  • Just bought this morning a value dust pan and brush icon7.gif

I always check out the value range for the household goods as they are so cheap icon12.gif
  • We live off the value range.
The plum toms are much better than the chopped toms (we then open up the tin and stick a knife in and give them a bit of a chop) kidney beans are great but do need a bit more rinising than other brands
The value fresh fruit and veg are fine but you need to use them up quickly as i have found they go off quicker than most.
The lemonade and juices are good but we avoid the coke at all costs after it cleaned up an old penny far to quickly. Ohhh and the black bin bags are a lot thinner than more expensive ones and this has caused a few problems with rippage.

There are loads of things that you can but from the tesco range that are worth the money....One of the things that we are impressed are the tinned fruits, baked beans to mention a few. as long as you are not fussy and don't correlate good taste from the brand...I always compare prices before buying things and most of the time tesco beats the price, so I get to try most of their value ranges. Having a brand name does not always mean thet it is always good.

  • Def the chopped tinned tomatoes and the sparkling water.
  • If you are used to a particular brand, the value things may taste different. But, don't confuse different with worse.

I've never been brand loyal, although I find myself buying more brands now simply to avoid the dreaded 'may contain traces of nuts' warning that appears on a lot of value and own-brand items.

I am trying to avoid spending money in Tescos but in the value range in the past I have bought the following and had no problems with them.

-Milk and Dark Chocolate digestives. Milk ones are 25p a pkt and Plain 34p. Yes I have no idea why different prices either

Hi calleyw, plain choc has more cocoa beans in. Hence the price difference.
I love the plain ones. :)
  • The loo rolls, tissues and kitchen roll are all fine, especially in a household with children where a lot gets used/wasted.

It's interesting to see which items appear on most lists here - I agree about cheese tinned tomatoes, baked beans and fruit and veg being good. The value porridge oats are amazing, I can't tell the difference between those and Quaker oats.

Aren't the eggs in the value range because they are odd sizes? I'm fairly sure I read that somewhere. They are exactly the same as the normal eggs otherwise,

The value bread goes stale very quickly and the dried pasta tastes like cardboard!
  • Has anybody ever just shopped from the value range. If so what was the cost compared to your normal shop?

I agree with an earlier statement the value meat is not all that good, although the chicken doesn't taste bad its a little on the small side
