I get Tesco's value tomato ketchup. I actually like it better than Heinz as its tangier. It costs 43p whereas a bottle of the same size is about £2.18 from Heinz!
  • Thanks for that grimerking, I've printed it off and will keep it with me when I go shopping. I do use a few Tesco Value items but don't want to waste money trying too many in case they're rubbish. Have added tomato ketchup to the list :)

I love the Value brown sauce as well but it could just be a matter of personal taste.

    Hiya

The Golden Savoury Rice is nice if a little salty. We have it with added veg/tofu which are stir fried separately and stired in when the rice is cooked - yum!

Other things I have bought which are good are the tinned tomatoes, red kidney beans, rice pud, jelly, choc digestives, flour, peppers, bleach (mum has this), stir fry, curry sauce, tissues (thin but great value), salted peanuts, oats, kitchen roll, spaghetti, lasagne, cat litter, basmati and long grain rice and bananas.

Still to try, I have the strawberry whip and stir fry sauce in the cupboard

Not keen on the tinned custard and the value chocolate is really really bad! The weetabix tasted okay but were not so high in vitamins so won't be buying again.Oh and the toilet cleaner is rubbish. Smells okay but does nothing to clean the toilet! Red pesto was poor too.

A warning about 'market value' bananas.

Standard bananas are priced at 68p/kg.

Market value bananas priced at 66p per bag - weighing between 600g and 900g - that I could see.
That works out at between 73p and £1.10 per kg .

    Value!!!

The value Tortilla Chips are fab, lovely with salsa and cheese made into nacho's and less than 20p per bag too.

Also a word of warning regarding value products - check the price per 100g or each etc, as in quite a few of their products, the full price version actually works out cheaper than the value version (chocolate sandwich biscuits being just one of the examples I found today).
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

    Right:
    tinned toms
    tinned kidney beans
    long grain rice
    flour (self raising and plain)
    Carrots
    Onions
    Frozen mixed veg
Hay and animal bedding (for guinea pig)
    Butter
    Porridge oats
    Fruit n fibre
    Bananas
bags of peppers (I try to get the bag with some red ones in as some bags seem to be all green peppers!)
    kitchen roll

Will give most value things a go, don't know until you try! Do buy meat from the butchers though.
