Just for some further info. This happened to me with another reseller. I forget the name now.

They went into liquidation, their administrators after some time passed on what was left of their monnies.

I received about £200 of the £560 I originally lost.

    HI

What did you do to receive some of your money back?

I contacted Orange by email and explained the situation to them (no threats to them or requests for the money). I got the following reply:

    Thank you for your mail

I am sorry to hear of the problems that you are experiencing.

Unfortunately we are unable to assist you in this matter. However, we are able
to send a dealer incident form so that this can be investigated.

I look forward to hearing from you

    Kind regards

HI everyone, as most other people I hate being conned. Talkworldonlin was a private limited company and not a public limited company, but I do not have the names of any of their directors or owners.

I have written to 3 demanding they honour the cash back. I would not have entered into the contract with 3, had their agent not promised the line rental was being refunded. They have 7 days to reply. My letter clear states "I bought a motorolla telephone with 12 months free line rental". Infact I have paid on average £30 per month line rental - clear breach of the contract I was offered by their agent.

I intend to raise a small claim against 3, next week, as I am sure they will not be sending me a cheque for £230. It will cost me £30 to see them in court, well worth every pound to embarrass these guys. I believe it will cost these guys hundreds of pounds (if not thousands) defending my case and sending a legal adviser to court to hear me out.

I have used money claim on line twice before and one both cases. I believe 3 will settle the amount as it will be cheaper and less embarrassing for them to do so than to attend court to fight the proccedings.

I have also switched my mobile contract from 3 to O2 (The contract ran out).

I will keep you informed on how successful the proceedings are. I just want to see these guys in court! David versus Goliath.

As I see it, Three don't owe you anything. I've had cashback deals in the past (admittedly without problems - yet!) and it's always been made clear in the T&Cs that the cashback is from the retailer, NOT the network.
  • Hi,

i'm also in teh same boat - awaiting a £300 (ish) cashback on an Orange contract.

I guess I have no right to downgrade my Orange contract either? I'm only this high rate because with teh cashback it was cheaper than lower tariffs.

Another question - I don't understand the difference between TALKWORLD WEBSITE being defunct, but TALKWORLD ONLINE still trading.. which is the relevant company to us?

If anyone has a plan of action, please let me know. There must be a government body dedicated to the reporting of this kind of thing??

    thanks

Talkworld have been around since the early 1990s, and have several companies. The one owing the cashback money is, I believe, Talkworld Online Ltd. The website company being dissolved could just be a rearrangement?

They have some high street stores - these have come and gone. They used to have one in Ipswich, and in Norwich, but they closed down years ago. My wife and I have had several phones from them, either from the stores or online, all with Cashback. When one 12 month contract ended we've looked for another. All Cashbacks had to be claimed from the head office at 153 High Street. There were delays before, but we did get the money eventually.

My £330 was due in January. When I rang I was told my cheque was being sent the following week.

I rang one of the shops but I was told Talkworld Online was a seperate company and they don't know anything.

I'm just hoping that the money will arrive sometime soon. Talkworld have given me good service in the past (though they made mistakes like sending me the wrong handset). They have sorted out several problems with Orange's billing department for me and have been helpful.

Perhaps they will issue cash back cheques from the proceeds of selling the webserver?

I have to go to Brentwood sometimes. I will try and call at the premises and see if I can find out anything.
  • Has anyone got any more news on Talkworld?

Nothing the company dealing with their liquidation dealt with it and distributed the money to everyone.
