Hooray! We just received our formal offer confirmation today (so I'm assuming the survey valuation was ok - haven't heard back from them yet) but after your earlier post I was beginning to get a little concerned...
We're thinking that we might not give our month's notice to our landlord until we've had confirmation that our vendor has moved out - we might end up paying a bit more but it'll feel much more comfortable! Plus we could minimise the hassle of having people traipsing around doing viewings...Mortgage-Free Wannabe!

That's great news Hockeyduo!
Haven't posted for a while. Still saving and still viewing properties but they are coming onto the market very slowly here and selling in a matter of days- sometimes hours! It's a tricky one as i don't like to rush a decision this big (and expensive) but people seem to be viewing and offering on the same day and we're not getting a look in...
We have probably viewed about 20 3 bed semis since January and offered on 2 - 1 fell through and one offer not accepted. Feel like we'll never find 'the' house at the moment. Today my boyfriend liked a house we viewed but I thought it felt small and dingy and wasn't excited in the slightest. Am starting to question whether my expectations are just too high for our budget.0 -
Hasn't your solicitor (or somebody on this site) advised you not to give notice until contracts are exchanged?cjackson37 wrote: »have given my 1 month notice to landlord today.
I will end up homeless at this rate!0 -

Not all situations are the same...
I will be giving notice that we will be leaving at the end of our AST period- which may or may not coincide with completion on our new (fingers crossed!) house. We're both students, we have little furniture, and we both have places to stay if we need to; so for us it makes sense to save as much as possible in rent.
Incidentally, we have paid for a homebuyers in addition to valuation survey through our lender- it is booked for Tuesday morning. Does anyone know how long it should take for them to report, and whether they will contact us directly or whether we will have to chase them up?0 -
We've just had a load of paperwork through from NatWest confirming our mortgage offer - one copy to be signed and go to our solicitor, eep!
I assume this means the valuation came back fine for them - but we've not seen any sign of our homebuyers report yet. Is it best to hold off from signing the forms until we get this and are happy with everything?Mortgage-Free Wannabe!

Hi Vkay,
Just a quick post to say dont loose hope, you WILL find your home soon!
I thought we would never find our house but we have!!!
We have been looking for 2 years and hopefully get my keys friday! Though im trying not to think about it because of what happened to Hockeyduo
I started to think that my expectations were too high aswell but then realised that when you find THE house you just know and maybe even then there are things you dont like but you dont see them. You see what you can make of it!
Fingers crossed for you

Hi everyone
We received our Homebuyer Report today and unfortunately it's given us a bit of a pause for thought. Looks like we will need to get specialist assessments done on possible wood worm  and damp in the kitchen (which is in a single storey extension at the back) as well as getting other things checked out. My gut feeling is that it's actually been well-taken care of over the years, but there are a lot of possible issues...Mortgage-Free Wannabe!
