sadly the above doesnt work I had to boot up in safe mode (press f8 just after the dell loading screen and pick the top option, safe mode) then uninstall it there, then reboot to normal windows mode.

I even tried stopping all the services, killing every process related to it, it still said a scan was running :S Get AVG free - much better!

Mine arrived yesterday (Wednesday) having been ordered on Sunday. For all the problems I had ordering it I can't fault the delivery.

The machine is quite nice, not badly built and it doesn't feel cheap. I agree with you that it needs at least 512MB - with 256MB it is a little... hesitant. DVD playback was particularly poor. I also had problems with the McAfee freezing and generally piddling around. I was very disappointed with the amount of rubbish loaded on it. In the end I dug out my Windows XP, formatted the HD and started from scratch.

The driver disk worked very well and was worth the extra £5 as it made the installation of said drivers very straightforward. One slight oddity was that when I came to reinstall McAfee I couldn't find it on the software CDs - I had to load Norton instead! It scarcely matters as I will be putting on Panda Titanium before long (only about a fiver from Aria.)

Otherwise I am very pleased - definitely a bargain.

Mine arrived yesterday after ordering on Sunday - must say I am very pleased with it (bigger screen and larger battery). It ran for about 4 hours on the battery yesterday with wireless on all the time - Everything ran fine - agree it needs AT LEAST 256mb more memory! The 1gb looks tempting - but it makes it over £400. So starting to sound expensive! Think I'll go for the extra 256 - no where is the best price...

Thinkin of joinin the game late for this but wanted to make sure it was worthit. I'm lookin to get a new laptop.. nothin special just somethin to do my thesis on and I really cant afford to break the bank. So, all in all a good deal do you think? Has anyone managed to find it through Quidco?

MAKE SURE you get the FULL NAME and extension number of who you speak to, AND an order number. Don't hang up without any of the above.!!!

ON a related point, how many USB ports does it have? And is there a FireWire port (I doubt it but had to ask).

I ordered my laptop on Friday afternoon & paid by switch.
I recieved a quotation almost straight away which I had to reply back to accepting the quotation.
I didnt recieve the order acknowledgement until Mid Morning on Monday. I had to email, fax & ring to get my customer number so i could track the order.

After seeing that other MSE'ers got there machines this week & ordered after me I emailed my salesman this morning to ask him what is happening to my order - he replied back asking me if I had paid yet!!!
I informed him that he actually had my card details when i placed the order on Friday. I have just spoke to him on the phone & he as apologised & now put the payment through & he also said he as put the order through as a priority order!!!
Because of all this !!!!-up he as had to re issue me with a new order number so i can track it again!!

Hopefully i will get the machine soon!!!!
