Same old story here..........

Called this morning and got an Indian call centre guy. When I said no to all the extras he was forcing me to buy, he cut me off.

I called back and asked for business and said I was cut off, and this time got through to the Ireland call centre.

This time the Irish guy was great and apolgised, but said if I had got the Indian guys name, he would have had him sacked for gross misconduct, so make sure you get a full name at the start of each call you make, as this will help everyone in future.

The good news is I have placed an order for the laptop with extended battery, and have a booking reference in email.

Looking forward to receive my new toy

...afetr more phone calls by mrs real1314, got the 15.4" screen upgrade and got the 3 yr at home warranty, all for £380 !! the 3yr warranty swung it for me just for peace of mind. still think dell are rogues though!

bargain. Just need a 512MB ram card from crucial now.

They often have a protective plastic piece of film placed over the screen and held at both sides by a piece of masking tape maybe its the remnants of that.

This was only about 2 inch square, and there was no film over the screen - but there were some fingerprints!

I wonder if mine is a 'refurb' or return ??

Did everyone else have a protective film, etc ?

Not necessarily. I have never had any form of email contact from Dell, I had no quote, no confirmation and no customer reference number Laptop just turned up last night.

I will have to chase Dell though for some sort of paperwork as at the moment all I have in the way of proof of purchase is the label from the side of the box.

Mine was exactly like yours. Small square of plastic and bits of masking tape, nothing over the screen.

It all looks and smells brand new, not tried it yet though need to wait for hubby to get me set up

dont panic mate!

Mine had 2 peices of masking tape, 1 either side, probably that held a screen protector. and it also had a peice of 2x2" plastic sticky back thing with a blue edge to it. dunno what it was for, maybe its remnant of something else?? (ie held some cover on or some label they removed or something). But i just removed it and thought nothing of it to be fair.

I tried to order another one tonight and RAJ has gone to 'check the stock' and is going to phone me back .....
