  • Feelie - if you get offered a suite then take it hun. Your needs have been assessed and they think you may need it. You did say that you would be offered it unless there is someone with a greater need than you already in there.

You can always say to them that if someone else comes in who needs it then to have that conversation then...

It is very good of you to think about it though.

... Anyways, I was thinking - what do I do if I get offered the suite? There are two suites, one is for ladies like me, and the other one is for ladies who have lost a fullterm baby, as they tend to stay in longer and they want to put them somewhere quieter. If I get offered that room, should I refuse it? I feel like it'd be 'wrong' of me to have my (hopefully) healthy baby in the room they use for all the poor ladies who've lost babies?

I think you should take it, feelie :) It's probably that the rooms were designed for ladies who would like a bit more privacy for whatever reason - it just so happens that unfortunately ladies who've lost are the most frequent users of them.

Feely take the room - IF they need it for someone they will move you. When I was in hospital at 6 weeks they first stuck me in a nice ensuite room on the 7th floor - aka their posh floor - then after about 28 hours they moved me down 2 floors with NO warning because someone came in who was poorlier than me... still had a private room but no longer an ensuite. So if they offer you a "suite" then take it :) and rest assured that if someone comes in who is in greater need than you they WILL move you.

feelie i would take the suite quite happily, my hospital is rubbish, it doesnt even have a shower or bath in the delivery/labour rooms, you literally give birth, get stitched up or whatever and get taken to the ward, then from there you wait for one of the showers to be free so you can clean up cos best you can do is have a quick wash in the delivery room! theres a birth centre in the area as well which would be lovely but i cant bring myself to go there instead cos its a long drive between the two, we're slap bang in the middle of them so transfer time between them if there were any complications would probably be about 40 mins or more in traffic. your hospital sounds like pure luxury, and if i had the opportunity to take luxury for such a special experience i would. also not wishing to sound harsh but losing a full term baby is so rare theres no guarantee you would be taking someones room up!

OH was gutted when we found out we were having a boy at first but he got used to it within a few hours and then went back to pure excitement, he wanted another daddys girl! i however was pleased cos boys are easier - plus if he follows in daddys footsteps and gets a girl up the duff in 17 years time chances are our grandchild wont be living with us and waking us up in the middle of the night!

Definitely you. I'm thinking 25th April for me. You'll be around the 6th. Thats my guess anyway!

Get a lot of pain, numbness and swelling in my wrists, Physio said it was probably Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Probably spending too much time on here!

I really do feel like I'm falling apart. I'm happy with that though, at least the baby has been fine through out, despite my bad morning sickness, SPD, urine infection, wrist pain, silly blood pressure and everything else! Perhaps I just whinge a lot :o

Congrats Elle - Boys are wonderful...I will be having my 3rd so maybe i'm a bit biased, but my friends little girl (same age as my ds1) is a little *ahem* madam;)

Are you shocked or disappointed in any way? because I know you said your oh and others were convinced it was going to be a girl.

Actually a woman got moved out of the intensive care delivery room so I could be put in there after my section. She was just starting to push... but I was dying. It was the room next to the ambulance access door (incase I had to be sent to a proper ICU) and had the full crash unit and space for all my machines and doctors. I met her when I finally got moved and she told me how peeved off she was and that she was complaining not realising I was the one who kicked her out!

    Just to be gloomy :D

DS1 just been sick, luckily in the toilet and in a jug. I managed to just gag a lot but not throw up. He's sleeping now but is really ill.
