What for? All I can think is for throwing at hubby/the stoopid mw/doc who tries to tell you you're not 'in labour' or to turn the telly back on when they turn it off! :rotfl: Sorry, I honestly don't know... Cheap tenny balls, I'd try your pound shop if you have one or good old ebay. If nothing else a petshop should have some too.

    Dare I ask what for:p

Possibly pound shops? I think ours had a pack of 3/4 for £1

Weezl, I don't suppose in your lovely journals it says whether you can have a sweep before your due date...I know MFD wasn't given one 5 days before, but I am seeing the midwife 2 days before my due date, so if it usually takes 2 days to work maybe they will do it then???

Can't stay on tonight, got friends for dinner. Sorry but I came on to post an hour ago but fell asleep. Been busier today than I have been at work all week. Really wanted to catch up with you all, been missing the chat being back at work. Omg I sound like a right whinger, feel a bit rough though, hope your all enjoying your weekends.

Mel, I'm curious too! I read through all todays posts before now I've forgotton!
Too many children, too little time!!!

LOL Tia, great ideas, I'll use them for those reasons too I'm sure! :rotfl:

Actually, it's a bit duller than that, but if you stuff an old sock with tennis balls you get a cheap, but good massager for lower back pain during contractions, and hubby/birth partner is less likely to get tired hands and give up just when you need them most!

Either that or I'll get DH to try to push one out of his penis, so he can totally empathise with my experience!!!!!:o

Mel, I'll see what I can find re: preterm sweeps, my suspicion would be not, cos they'd be scared to make you early in case bubs wasn't ready, lest you sued them, but I'll have a looky!! ;)

p.s eta, Mel, I think it differs according to where you live and each NHS trust's policy, according to this link: http://community.babycentre.co.uk/talk/a506645/stretch_and_sweep_booked_cringe

But one link I found reckoned people could do it themselves! :) I guess the danger would be of forcing labour before you and baby are ready and then having a long painful labour....?

  • I have been pondering whether you can do a self-sweep (or whether hubby could do one) for a few days now Weezl...but not really knowing in detail what is involved I kind of ground to a halt!

My hubby has been lovely today - he had worked his little socks off to get things done for Bubba and then went and bought me some Raspberry Leaf Tea (which I better get drinking now!). I love him loads today :D

I do this too! It actually annoys me if people touch me or talk to me too much while I am in pain. I had Gall Stones a few years back and used to wake up in the middle of the night in agony...I thought I was going to die some nights! I didn't ever wake dh though as he would of kept asking me if I was ok etc and trying to help me. To anyone who hasn't had Gall Stones, I would rather give birth to 20 kids than ever have those again, the pain was immense.

Yep. I have had both too. Gall stones and baby. I would give birth again in a heartbeat rather than have that pain again. WORST pain ever. My stones moved and got stuck in my ducts and caused obstructive jaundice so I was as yellow as Marge Simpson!:rotfl: thankfully won't happen again as I have had my gall bladder removed now. Wouldn't wish that pain on my worst enemy though.

DS is a bit better but not much. Had really bad night with him bless.

My big shop just came too... Lots of veggies for the slow cooker... And they made a mistake with the catsan.. Sent bob martin stuff instead so I rang and we're getting refunded.... I'm not that bothered really considering what the cats do to it... But it's £17 going back in the bank :D

Molly, well done on the freebies! I took out a subscription when I went to the babyshow for the freebies too... Think it was Mother and Baby magazine though... Can't remember really... Only signed up for the freebies then cancelled it...

I really really do hope this baby comes early so I can go to the Birmingham baby show!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
