  • hello people!

I have just caught up again....... Hugs to all who would like one! I forgot that it was pancake day yesterday, so I am going to make some tonight with Banana, chocolate sauce and chocolate icecream.

Breast feeding, my OH finds it a bit funny that I am fine with the thought of doing this at home but not when we are out and about. I really want to try and express some and have my own bank to use whilst out and about and for OH to use as he wants to be invoved with the feeding process too. What ever happens I want to give it a go, my friends have all said that it helped them bond with their little ones.....sorry I am really too excited!

Main reason I am excitable today.... I only have 30 working days remaining till Mat Leave starts!! Woot Woot!

Hope everyone is having a good day :D

can i add my two cents in re breastfeeding/bottle feeding?

my want is to breastfeed, but if for someone reason I struggle or can't get on with it, then i have no hesitation in changing to bottle feeding.

i know how hard i am on myself about things and the last thing i need to do is feel like i am failing when i have just had a baby.

the most important thing is that baby is feed and mum is in a good frame of mind, so i will do what is best in that respect.

the midwife at my parentcraft agreed. she said yes, breastfeeding is fantastic, but if you can't/dont want to do it, then that is your choice. the main thing is to enjoy your new little baby.

Links are allowed in signatures BUT they must be pre-approved by Abuse :) They come down on them pretty hard I'm afraid :)
I did notice it the other evening but forgot to PM you to warn you - sorry Shelvis :) If I see any that are obviously not maliciously intended if you know what I mean then I tend to just let people know instead of reporting them - mostly people just report them though :)

It's rare for links to be approved - they usually have to be registered charities etc - there IS a list around which I can dig out for you if you want... I think it even lists by user name what links they have permission for in their signature :)
One reason is that if links were allowed in sigs then it would be an easy target for spammers to hack a regular users account and putting their links in their sig... (yes they still can now but they rarely get to stay long so they don't seem to bother...) - but imagine if someone hacked my account - that would be THOUSANDS of messages they could instantly insert their spam link in across almost as many threads...

Sounds like the best plan! being happy with baby is of the utmost importance, although feeding baby for free would be nice :D

Sorry - just to make myself clear - I think that the story about being able to tell what sex the baby is by looking at it's face at 30 weeks is complete b0ll0x :D

Most people can't tell the sex of a baby when it is born unless it is naked or dressed in blue or pink!!
Anyone remember on "child of our time" the bbc prog with Prof Robert Winston
When the kids were about 2 or 3 they dressed them all in the 'wrong' clothes and most of the adults tried to get them to play with the toys that matched the clothes not the ones they wanted to which were mostly the ones that matched their true gender ;)

a while back hen Chris needed his hair cut I put a pink clip in his hair (at home and pink was the only colour I had, not that it matters) I took a photo of him because it made me laugh how one clip suddenly made him look like a girl and people are always telling me "he looks like a 'proper' little boy"

  • Was just having a peek at the ways to try and bring on labour and the babycentre article gives this interesting bit of advice:

    Sex

Sex as a means of getting labour started is thought to work in three ways: firstly orgasm may help to stimulate the uterus into action; secondly, sex can trigger the release of oxytocin, the "contraction" hormone; thirdly, semen contains a high concentration of prostaglandins which may help to ripen, or soften, the neck of the womb (cervix) ready for it to dilate when labour starts.

    <SNIP>

Alternatively, giving your partner oral sex may work better. It is thought that prostaglandins are absorbed more efficiently through the gut than through the vagina. (Note: you may prefer to keep this piece of information to yourself!)

Obviously I ignored the last bit!!
