I wouldn't of wanted earphones during labour... Took in my own CD player and when instructed to go for a walk, went and fetched batteries for it... I did find it annoying that the contractions were interrupting my ability to sing along to my favourite songs...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

    I'm home.

Everything is probably fine. Went on the trace thingy for half an hour, which was fine apart from when he managed to move and the alarm went off. No midwife in with me, and no-one came! I repositioned the thing, and managed to find him after about 4 minutes. That was pretty scary, but none of the staff seemed suprised - must happen a lot.

Urine had lots of things in it, blood, protien, glucose and keytones I think. Probable water infection. Have to drink loads.

Doctor suggested an internal, at which point I cried a lot. He discussed it with the Senior Registrar, who though it was probably unnessercary and I could go home. Feel like I've let the baby down though? Just couldn't face going through with it. Cried all the way home.

Worried about giving birth now, if I couldn't even handle an internal.
    Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.

MFD: you HAVE to get a pic of bubs all red and naked it's a rule. You'll need it for future girlfriend embarrassment ;)

Thanks for telling me what to do :D
I'm gonna phone them 2 mo and book the 2D as per original plan ;) plus ask hem to write down the sex and hide the screen while they do.
I would mind that much if people know which team we are on if it wasn't for the 'issue' with our boy name choice. I know I'd end up getting really upset if they say boy and my family start going on about how I can't call him Edgar
Mind u my fave (at the mo) girls name is Layla-rose and MIL reckons its a chavvy copying celebs thing to give hyphenated names

  • Do you think pregnant ladies make up 80% of mcdonalds profits??

Krystal - I was supposed to be making a CD to give birth to today...there is still time! I can only think of 1 song I want on there at the moment though!

Keep meaning to ask which pool you took Aimee to the other day...with the waves and slides?

You haven't let baby down. But you do need to do something about it...you can't give birth without taking your knickers off ;)

Thinking again that you need some support who will be with you to hold your hand and help you through it. Not wanting to push the idea but if you could get a doula who you could spend a lot of time getting to know beforehand then you may find it easier.

I am assuming that the hospital will not consider giving you a dedicated health professional who will def be there, whenever you go in?

Can't beleive no one came when it lost the trace tho  you could have been sat there think ur baby had died

You haven't let bubs down, you're just not ready for that yet :) the senior bloke said it was prob unnecessary anyway so not a biggy;)
I'm sure your natural instincts will take over when the day comes and you'll turn into the I don't care what you see/touch just make it stop crazy woman most of us do :rotfl:

EDIT- I too think MFD maybe on to something with the doula idea, esp if you aren't sure if you can rely on ur OH to be your advocate (I'm not sure if you have said u can rely on him or not)

Some lady is supposed to phone me this week, and I'll ask about a named person.

Hopefully with labour, it'll be alright because OH will be there. Doing things a lone is a lot more scary.

I had a look for Doulas, but couldn't find anyone local with specific experience of PTSD.

MFD, just stick all the songs you like to sing along to or find relaxing on there... I really wanted to take Iron Maiden in when having Aimee but my sister wouldn't let me... Would of been funny if she was born to 'bring your daughter to the slaughter'... Pool was Bentley Bridge, right near new cross and hobby craft etc... Its a nice pool, but always freezing cold... Will be lovely in the summer I recon...

Did you speak to any of them anyway, just thinking you may find that one of them 'gets' you or that you just trust on instict
