  • Just a quick update after my growth scan this morning.

Bubbas head is too far in my pelvis for them to get a look or take any measurements - he has an abdominal curcumference of 36cm and a femur length of 7.5cm. Which basically puts him on the 97th centile. They can't give an estimated weight without the head measurements but apparently I am not expecting a small baby  I'm 5'9" though so wasn't expecting a tiny one anyway. Sonographer said she would send me through to clinic for some reassurance.

Saw a hospital MW who tested my wee and said there are some ketones and protein in there. She sent the sample off for further tests. BP is fine.

Saw a frankly useless doctor who spoke mostly to my husband (who as we all know, doesn't really understand the jargon etc). He was most surprised that I wasn't having waterworks problems. And when I explained that I was there for a growth scan he looked at the measurements and started telling hubby that it was on the line, if it was above the line then he would worry  He examined me and told me that baby's head was down (what an effing surprise that was - I am 39 weeks with a baby 2 5ths engaged for gods sake).
Anyway he said he wasn't going to 'treat it' and that he would leave me to deliver naturally. Followed by some glib comment that I am feeding the baby too much and that the baby likes it too much

So of course I went scurrying for a mcdonalds, followed by ginger cake and custard :o what a t0sser (sorry ladies). Came home in floods of tears in the car and hubby had gone to the office and left me.

I'm sorry, I haven't got the heart to try and catch up. Hope everyone is well.

Feelie - OH should be calling the insurance today, we are a bit worried because when he got some paperwork out for the tel number and policy number we discovered we had forgotten to tell them we had turned the front bedroom into two so technically our policy is invalid  we are gonna say we had it done recently in preparation for baby #2 just praying they don't use it as an excuse to not give us anything *biting nails smilie*

I don't know he exact reason for gym ball but I liked sitting on it last time I think its because it gives you good posture and is a bit bouncy, You can pick them up for something like £3 in tesco so even if u don't like it its not a big loss ;)

oh MFD what a rubbish start to the day!!
Your baby will more than likely pop out a perfectly normal health possibly at the larger end of the scale but if your tall that's nothing to worry about is it.
Have some dodgy hugs from me :D

  • I'm probably not going to be well liked for telling you all this but when I was pregnant with Ruby I only put on 16lbs!! :D

Initally I felt so rotten what with the morning sickness that I lost a few pounds. After that normal eating resummed & I just put the weight on steadily.

I have to admit to suffering real bump envy as I honestly didn't look pregnant until I was 7 1/2 months gone. This became apparent when an old friend who I hadn't seen for some time went to rugby tackle me! (He'd had a few to drink!) Everyone who knew yelled at the top of their voices that I was heavily pregnant. I don't know who looked more shocked me or him! :rotfl:

When I got on to the scales after having Ruby I had lost 1 1/2 stones so I actually weighed less than before I'd got pregnant. I then went on to BF for 7 months & the weight just fell off. :D I looked so much better for it as i'm only 5ft 2.

I cannot recommend breast feeding highly enough. I'm not saying it's always easy because I remember the first few weeks being terribly difficult at times but then it all just clicks & you suddenly seem to just settle in to it. I had times when I was ready to give up but I stuck with it & I'm so glad I did.

I was terribly upset when I stopped. The little bogger had 3 teeth though & kept biting! Ouch!!
Our 1st baby is due 29th December 2007! :rudolf:
I'm hopeful that this get's me out of cooking Christmas dinner!

Baby Ruby arrived after 55 hours of labour & an emergency c section on Christmas Day at 14.41 weighing 6lb 6oz...And yes I did get out of cooking Christmas dinner!!:rotfl:
  • Thanks sami - just had a tentative google and 97th centile is apparently still under 10 llbs - which seems fine to me (we have had a couple of proper biggies on here recently haven't we?)

The stupid doctor man did say about 8 or 9 pounds which I can cope with (she says hopefully) but I honestly feel I came out of there no wiser than I went in and much more worried. When they start talking about big babies I start thinking 11 or 12 pounders.

He was an absolute ******* though.

Becky your first time is very similar to mine I put on about 1.5 stone, didn't look preg until about 7mths and it all dropped off after the birth.
I did however then go on to sit on my bum all day eating chocolate so although I weighed the same as I did pre baby I was 2 dress sizes bigger (muscle heavier than fat as I'm sure u all know).

I'm really determined to breast feed successfully this time even if it kills me LOL

Well my friend who is similar in size to me (5ft 3 and slimish) has had two 12lb'ers through the usual exit not sunroof and although she was a bit more sore than some she lived to tell the tale so I'm sure a 10lb would be a breeze :D

    Men are just rubbish IMHO.

Must love u and leave u all now gotta get a shower and out of the house.
Gonna get the essentials like mat pads, breast pads etc in boots while it's triple points and I might just some how end up in starbucks with a mug full of hot choc and a slice of cake :D
    Toodles all xx

  • I was very similar to you becky, I only put on 7lbs when preg with DS1 but I had plenty of maternal cushioning to start with!! So he was born weighing 8lb 10oz and with all the fluids I was lighter afterwards. Then lost another 2st through breastfeeding and dieting/being careful with my food. Managed to put a stone back on before falling pregnant again but this time I lost 11lbs from finding out I was preg and currently am still 6lb down at 29+5.

  • With DS2 they gave me a scan at 39 weeks and said he was going to be so big they recommended being induced at 40 weeks so he didnt get any bigger. I had him 3 days early in the end and he weighed 8 13 which was smaller than DS1.

They reackon this time around I am on track for about 8lb but I wont be counting on that.
