Hi still waiting on a survey- have been told the mortgage has been underwritten. Don't know what that means to be honest! hang in there...
  • After reading your posts Im really not looking forward to the next few weeks... I applied with Abbey 2 weeks ago, at the time I told them I had a 6 week deadline to exchange... and I expressed how short that was!

It has gone to underwriter twice as the doc's were not sent up correctly. I applied directly, so I would not give your brokers all the blame... When I called on Friday I was then advised that they were well within their deadline of 6-8 weeks to exchange and there was nothing they can do but wait for a decision. I can't seem to get a straight answer from their customer services.

I am a first time buyer and I knew it would be difficult but Im getting concerned with all the comments about Abbey on this site... We have no chain but a good incentive with the offer and I would not like to lose that as we are putting in every penny to make up the deposit... I guess keep calling...

Sarah77- I'm sure others will agree that this is most likely a cheap trick by the Estate Agents to hurry the process along. If the vendors have been inundated with other offers for the property in the current climate, I'd be surprised (I recently read an article on one of our "trade" websites that the average EA sold 8 houses in January....).The phrase "the vendor wants to put the house back on the market" is the giveaway- it implies there are no other takers. I may be wrong, but have the confidence to stand your ground. After all, it's a buyer's market at the moment! In fact, (just to be awkward & find out the truth) I'd suggest that your OH rings the EA & tells them you're REDUCING your offer or looking elsewhere; I bet the response is more positive than you'd expect if they think they might lose a precious sale...

Did OH ring EA, are they giving you longer surely they can hang on a bit longer. Its not your fault you have done all you can do its the abbey that need to get things moving. Keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi thats it if you can find out either way you can move on thats what i think, i bet we could have gone through a different bank and be more or less ready for moving. We didn,t hear a thing yesterday if i did not keep ringing broker i dont think we would hear a thing, i spoke to someone yesterday and they said that our brokers are not doing their jobs right because they can speak to someone higher up at the abbey to do with the problems that we are having. Any way good luck lets hope we both get some good news to-day.
