Ohh, i just found my letter and read it properly this time, i do have a username for student home lol.
It says my T175 stuff should be sent on Sept 17th.
I am excited too :d But nervous because i have always been really bad at learning, organisation, reading and absorbing... basically everything you should be good at to do an Open Uni course:eek:
Lol, me too!!
We must be mad!!
I reason it is easier to go over stuff again if we need as we have it all there and tailor it to the way we learn best...? :cool:0 -

Your be fine, some weeks your find that you can do that weeks work in couple of hours another week it might take 10 hours, a lot of cussing, but your get.
One tip I would say (do try to put it into pratice), if try to get yourself maybe 1 or 2 weeks infront of the schedule, then if you have a bad week, or anything you have the breathing space.
xxxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
They have granted my funding, but carried the excess over to be used on another course, rather than to be used for books etc-is that normal? Does anyone have any idea, how much the course materials will be for K101? I am panicking abit now, as I am on such a tight budget.Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!0

Yes, the funding for fees is only for fees - you can use it across more than one course. Mine paid for two in one academic year :money::T
The grant for books etc is seperate. K101 has everything included in it.No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

Thats brilliant news about the course grant going through, they leave the rest of the funds for if you want to do another course this school year.
Most courses the books are included, one of my business courses had 6 text books ...... glad I wasn't paying for them!
Don't forget that as you got the grant your also get £260 student grant - not a loan, it doesn't affect any benefits, that goes into your bank account about 2 weeks after you start the course, thats to cover everything you need - paper, pens, ink cartridges etc.

Fab news!
There is two course books you need to buy for K101:
Johnson, J & De Souza, C (eds) Understanding Health and Social Care: An introductory reader (2nd edn) 9781847870810 Sage £19.99
Northedge, Andy The Good Study Guide (2nd edn) 9780749259747 Open University £12.99
Apparently, Amazon is cheapest but I haven't checked that out.
I wouldn't think you need them immediately so you have at least a month I'd have said.0 -
Hi, theres 2 books that need to be bought seperately for K101 they will cost approx £25 off Amazon. Hope this helps.0

Does anyone know when funding runs from? I was funded in January 2010 for U212 but now want to sign up for DSE141 in November 2010 and D240 Counselling in May 2011, these are both 30 point courses so I hope I can get them totally paid for. I've also sent off forms today for T189 Digital Photography but have signed a credit agreement with OUSBA to pay for it myself.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16
Became homeowners 26.02.16
Baby girl arrived 27.10.16
Baby boy arrived 16.09.2018

The funding works from Sept to the following August, so anything spent in the school year 2009/10 start a fresh from sept 2010.
Good luck with the courses they sound interesting, admit like the sound of the councelling one, hope you don't think I'm being cheeky, but I know the DSE141 and D240 come out of your grant, if theres anything left you can put it towards the next courser and top up the remainder with the OUSBA side of things. I've hadto do that for this yrs courses got E112 - Sports course (long story), and B301 Business although part of the B301 is fee grant, the goverment top up one course a year, and then i've got the rest on OUSBA, just wanted to get done in one year xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0
