  • Former OU I used to do T171 which was a stupid choice. I quit. The OU looks good for Language Courses amongst other thing.

can you claim 2 foundation degrees? all modules have to count towards the one degree.

For me my transational degree be Leadership + Mgt, need 1 x level 2, and 2 x level 3 for that one.

But I've already extra courses, kept finding ones that I liked so level 2, I have 180 points, - with the level ones as well gives me 2 different foundation degrees.

    Hi

I'm looking at doing an opening course to get me started, which would start in June. Hopefully I will then have decided which degree I want to do (currently dithering between languages and history). However as it's my first degree I understand I may be eligible for a student loan. This may be a thick question but if I pay for the opening course myself, will this disqualify me for a student loan come September?

Also, can the opening courses count towards any other sort of qualification? Or does it not matter if I pick a random course? (or work related - I'm eyeing up the management one!)

    Thanks!

    Hey lovelies.

Really enjoying The Arts Past and Present. :D

Does anyone know how overlapping courses works? The course I'm on finishes on 22nd September, but the next module I want to do (Creative Writing) starts in September. =/ Also, I got full financial support for AA100, so does that mean I wouldn't get financial support for Creative Writing?

    Thank you.:o

You're allowed 120 credits per academic year, but you are allowed a minor overlap of more if really necessary - so your 2 courses at once will be fine! Those courses are both 60 credits so are within the allowable amount.

With finance, make sure you've logged in Student Home recently as you'll probably need to do a "transitional fee" questionnaire. This will ensure your new modules are on the old fee system.

Assuming your finances haven't changed you should get funding for the new course although you may have to fill in another finance form to get it. You're allowed funding for 120 credits an academic year so again here you're fine. If you were doing 120 credits then the full funding would be ever so slightly less than the full course fee, but as you're not it should all be covered.

    Thanks so much hun. :)

I've done the Transitional Fee questionnaire. :) Although, I feel a right wally because on Firefox it was telling me that Transitional Arrangements weren't available in my area so I got in touch with the OU and they said it was a technical glitch and would be fixed but 10 days later I was still having problems so emailed them again.
Tried a different browser and it worked *rolls eyes*

I am having trouble with the Study Plan though. I'm trying to create a new one and it used to be that I could tick the boxes and it would then tell me at the top how many credits I had left to choose and I could save it, but it won't let me. :( I tried in a different browser for that too but it's not working. Not sure if it's because I'm doing an Open Degree though...

    Hi everyone

I've noticed some of you mentioning completing a transitional fees questionnaire. Can I ask how did you know you had to fill this in?

Is it sent to you by email as I haven't had anything from the OU. Does it make a difference because I'm in Wales?

I don't want to end up paying the new prices.

I've got a feeling the funding is slightl different in Wales, my message re transational change over came on home page, (in England) if you go through the home page theres a big section re fees, but if you haven't heard anything by end of March then give them a ring, I had till June to make my decision, def don't like the look of the new prices. got to hope get funding x

    Hi M2O

Yes I had a look around the OU site and it says there's no change for 2012/2013 course fees apart from the usual inflation so a £700 course will increase by around £35.

I'm not sure if the new structure comes in in 2013/2014 though.
