Keep up the good work everyone.

  • To stay on the old fees system, you need to start a module before September 2012, which in practice means a Feb start.

OK, nearly right. As posted by Voyager on a new thread (quoting me from elsewhere): you can still get in under the wire by starting a short/introductory course in June this year, but it's likely they will fill up quicker and sooner than usual for this reason.

Glad I realised - was all set for starting last October, then unexpectedly had to replace my car when the head gasket went on the old one

First TMA due today (or possibly tommorrow - it says "cut off" is the 15th). I am really nervous for some reason.

I'm finding this a struggle because I don't know what is expected - it's an education course and I'm not a teacher so I find my views don't necessarily match my peer group.

It's interesting, but I have no clue how it will be marked.

Yup, you can submit tomorrow. Ideally you should submit by midday, but there is a 12 hour grace period that means you can submit until midnight without being late. However, if you have technical difficulties or other problems there won't be anyone to help you that late.

I would aim for the 12 midday but they do allow some freedom till midnight, but if you did submit after 12, theres a warning that flags up to say late submission.

To give you a general idea, each question gets allocated a set points, and within that sectors there looking for your understanding and use of the course text, maybe how you relate a scerinerio to an event.

I don't know if its any help, but I find that if I print off the assignment leave it for a bit, then have a look through and its like looking through it with a fresh pair of eyes

    Check spell check

As for not being a teacher, I wouldn't worry about that, I've studied a few different subjects, with no knowledge and passsed the courses, if its a level one course the base of your information will be in the text books, you've got life experience, which goes a long way with the Ou, and as for others thinking different, thats good, thats the advantage of OU, everyone from different walks of life, jobs, from directors through to me, (I'm a single mum on an extended career break due to disability).

One of courses is a level 1 from leadership + mgt sector, went to a tutorial, and one of the tasks that we had to do in groups was design a new product (in theory!!), but how would we market it and to who, there was 3 of us working together, and we all interacted, infact the product we came up with was mine - a collaspeable clothes dryer for camping. Yet if you would have asked me before that morning I would have thought oh no.

Once you have the 1st assisgnment done, it gets easier,

When you collect the file, there are 3 parts that come back, (not in the right order) one is the OU logo, the 2nd will be your assisgnment and there be comments on it by the tutor, and the 3rd is a PT3, this is a summary form of your assisgnment and a break down of your scores.

This is where your see where you got the good scores.

    Your be fine, xx

Thank you! I submitted it last night - I figured even if I've messed up, there would be no time to fix it :) I'm hoping they will be kind as it's my first ever TMA.

Thank you :) It's a science education course and there are reflective components (which I didn't realise) which I find hard because I have no experience to reflect on and it's changed since I was at school. I don't have strong views about the school curriculum either. I guess it makes balanced essay writing a bit easier :o It's also my first course with the OU and the first in this subject so I have a feeling I'm one of only a few newbies in my group too.

I do find I look at the assumptions about scientists/the scientific community and think "err? do I really do that?" :rotfl::rotfl:as they don't key into what I think I do which is also a bit unnerving. I feel like a sociologist's goldfish reading some of this stuff :o

I'm just used to numbers and graphs I think. So much easier! :o

right I'm doing BSc/BA Health & Social Care and have 2 years left, I will also have the cert & diploma by the end of it.

I got confused with the transitional fees questionnaire so I ask them and we told you pick the highest qualification you are aiming for and contact them when you have the required credits for the lesser one.

can you claim 2 foundation degrees? all modules have to count towards the one degree.
