Thank you scubaangel, jaxjax and alyth, that is really helpful :) I don't think the info must be on the site yet, as I have found the course info on the top right hand side of my student home page, and there is certainly nothing there that the letter in the pack suggested would be there. I guess I keep checking in and one day it will hopefully be there.
Alyth, thanks for the hint about reading everything paper, I will get on with it. I have skimmed it all, but I shall have a look in more depth in preparation :)

upyonder, I only can post such advice because if Id read all the info I would be so much happier! I got myself in such a state over my course, the most impoprtant advice I could give would be to read through what your TMAs are in - on my course only ever second chapter of the arts is covered in the TMA I can skim through a whole chapter in a night! Then of course stress for 3 weeks about the TMA!

The OU for is idiots - I mean that in a nice way - they really do hold your hand every step of the way, my only criticism is that they do bombard you slightly with information, and you have to decide what is important to you - I guess like being a reall student at uni! I think read, read and read again what they send you, i've spent 2 days on facebook counselling those who hadn't even started their TMA despite it being due in this weekend, but it's only bcause of my mum that I've learnt all of this!

  • Hi again, Just a quick word having studied with the ou for a couple of years now i can honestly say that the OU is not for idiots and it requires alot of hard work and attention to even attempt the TMA let alone get a high mark. And as for handing in TMA's i unfortuantely fall into the 'last day frantically re writing ' category and this is for 2 reasons 1-i work and have 3 kids on top of studying as do alot of OU students and 2- i do my best work under pressure. I completely agree with alyth in reading the material particularly the info on the TMA , it'll be no end of help. But don't worry if your still re writing the day before we all do it sometimes!

I had to have a weeks extension as I fell behind (B201), had dd off school b4 half term with measles, then half term, mad, she went back to school and I picked up a sickness and runs virus and was between loo and bed for a week, but my tutor was fab.

Have to admit the week ended sat and I didnt write a work till Sat afternoon, would not recommend leavein it so late, but sent tma off 9pm sat ngt, got it back the same night and Igot 86% I was hyper, have had cheshire cat grin since sat xx

  • I completed my OU degree about 15 years ago in maths and IT. When I started my oldest son was less than 2.....I had a break for 1 year when I had 3 children at home under 5. Although it was hard work, it was all worth it and I will always be grateful to the OU for the flexibility it gave me.

I have been a teacher for about 14 years. I now enjoy teaching secondary school children.

I would really recommend it especially the summer schools;)

    Thank you OU:T
  • I completed my Social Science degree in 2007 and am now studying to become a solictor via a one year full time post grad diploma which will be followed by a one year full time Legal Practice Certificate which is required before getting a 2 year training contract - and then a job! LOL

I think I am addicted to study!
