Try downloading the software this can often solve problems.

Unplug box from the mains (dont just switch off via the off button)
Hold down the backup button on the box (not remote!)
Keep holding it down and switch on the box
Keep holding the backup button after about 20 seconds a message will come on the screen and you can let go of the button
It will download the latest software

It may also not come on again dont panic. leave it a good 20mins according to sky If it still doesnt come on turn off at the plug and turn wait a min and then on again.

Dont bother using Sky HD + I am not surprised Sky has had problems as they do nothing to solve problems for existing customers and even take 28 days to repay charges on accounts that have been collected incorectly.

Most users are also not aware that thier lovely new Sky HD+ or Sky+ box will not function correctly without an active account. It will not record the freeview channels.

personally DONT BOTHER and buy something other than SKY HD+

yes I am an ex disgruntled customer the one who leaves sky whilst it takes on five others at a cheaper chargeing price.

Dont be surprised SKY doesnt seem to care.

And neither should it record freeview channels as you cannot get freeview through a satellite dish.

There is also another method but i think this will loose all your recordings, so use as a last resort, 2 people are probably needed as its fiddly

    First, switch off and unplug.
    Remove viewing card.
Then one of you hold the right & left button down (at the same time) on the front of the box
Plug the box back in to power supply.
You should then see the green light in the circle moving round with a red light in the centre.
When this happens, press select twice quickly, then press TV, then SKY.
Hopefully it will boot up, then reinsert viewing card

Unless you go and buy a FreeSat HD+ box that is! Then you'll get freeview and HD and be able to record just like Sky only free and no £19 a month to pay just to record for HD or £9 a month for Sky + Just a big one off cost. In adition apparantly the new Digital HD boxes are coming out this year and funny enough are also going to be priced at arround £49 what a coincidence lol
  • This whole recall thing sounds fishy to me but I can't quite put my finger on it

Nope - you will never get Freeview through a satellite dish.

You can only get Freeview through an aerial.

I think they mean Free To Air (FTA) channels. The ones you can receive after you stop paying Sky any money. As correctly stated you won't be able to record or watch recordings as you need a valid Sky subscription to use the PVR functions of the box.

I think you may well be right.

Big difference between FTA and Freeview

Yeah, Sky Sports News for one! I had to add the news mix to get it on Sky as its not in their FTA package.
  • Try googling freesat boxes those who doubt it. I think your wrong. You can get the Freetoair Sky channels the box plugs straight into your sat feed

    http://www.humaxfoxsat.co.uk/ heres some info

Also heres one in the eye for sky they think they have disabled your sky box when you quit sky . They may have disabled the recording features but if you goto your planner you can remove the recording status and get a series link reminder LOL This still pos up whilst watching another channel lol
