You and Lauren are spot on ;)

Nobody can tell you how to live your own lives and providing you have the homes that you really want and at a price that you are happy with and can comfortably afford, then that is all that matters (especially if you intend to stay there 5/10+ years). A lot of people loose sight of what a house is: they see it as a bottom line investment, rather than a home.

Hope that your purchases go through VERY smoothly and that you are VERY happy in your new homes :)

just wanted to add my congrats to the OP. well done, we put an offering in yesterday afternoon and i'm still awaiting an answer from the EA, even though he phoned and said he was 95% confident they would accept it. Cant help but think the EA is playign games, but they must have balls of steal to be doing it in this climate or they know we are too keen!!

The EA played games with us too - we put the offer forward to the EA on Saturday morning and they called back on the same day to say that they'd put the offer into the seller but they'd give us an answer on monday as they had 2 further viewings on Sunday. But they rang me yesterday to confirm the details of the offer and they said again "ok we'll put the offer forward to the seller" - Well didnt they advise the seller of our offer on Saturday like they said????

Ah well its sorted now and me and the bf are meeting with our IFA tomorrow night to sort out a mortgage

  • we put in an offer on a house for £160k (its been on the market for 8 months at £200k and the house has been empty for the last couple of months as vendors have moved out).
we have just heard back from the EA that the offer has been rejected but they will accept an offer of £175k.
we would only go up to £170k max.

can you please advise when we should put in a revised offer (EA got back to us today - we put the original offer in last Wed) and what our next offer should be (i have read on these boards we should go up in increments).

How much do you want the house and are there many other sales happening in the area?
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • well we do like the house but we arent in a rush to move. there are similar houses a mile or so away (which we have made the EA aware of). we just dont want to push ourselves too far as the house needs a fair bit of work (new kitchen/bathrooms etc).
