Only 1 in 40 people viewing houses at the moment (according to a very recent survey) can get a mortgage...
  • they've just rang to ask a few more questions and they said they'd get back to me by the end of the day. My FA has said if they dont ring me back today then let him know and he'll ring them first thing in the morning cos he thinks they may be dragging their heels a bit

  • £10K to much IMHO buyers market, and only 1 in 40 who need a mortgage qualify.
  • well they rejected our offer of 95k but said they would sell at 98k so we went with it! and they've accepted!!!

thats 7k off the asking price and 12k under our budget

not as big a saving as some ppl would have recommended but we wanted the house and we got it so we're both happy! :)

I was actually going to say that if they think this is stressful just wait until they actually put in their mortgage application.

I actually felt ill when we put ours in but luckily we were able to get the house surveyed and get the offer within a week of putting the application in.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.

That's great, congratulations, hope your purchase goes smoothly (well as smoothly as these things can).

In case anyone else says you've paid too much etc, please try not to listen to them, if it is the house that you and your OH want, and at a price you can afford, then you've done brilliantly and are very lucky.

  • Now the fun begins! I was on edge for about 3 weeks while I waited for my mortgage offer.
Congratulations though, sounds like you got a good deal and like you say it's a home not an investment
