I love looking at all these pretty things :D You are so talented.

Can I ask a question that might seem dumb to you clever ladies....you know when you're making a journal jar and you give them the notebook, how do you cover it? What kind of notebook do you buy? Just a plain one?

I really want to buy some of those gorgeous pretty papers and do something with them...i'm going to order some off ebay. Does anybody have any suggestions or should I just find some that I think are pretty? Is ebay the best place to get them? Thanks :D

You could buy pre-patterned books. Wilkos has a reasonable selection and they're quite cheap.

Jordan Shannon - good luck with the job searching, someone fab like you is bound to get snapped up in next to no time ;)

PML - enjoy your night out, sounds fab :T Your work, as ever, is gorgeous, you are so talented :D

Rusty - you must have really needed that sleep, hope you're feeling bit better now. How's your daughter? Better I hope. Any news on OH job interview?

Hope all the other poorly sick people get better soon.

I've spent the day at a friend's and her 3yo daughter has had fun bossing my 2yo son about, they both loved it and us grown-ups loved catching up, drinking tea and eating cakes. I've got 3 friends coming round tonight for food and drinks. I'm cheating and bought heat and serve Chinese food from Tesco but have made chocolate cupcakes as it's my friend's birthday tomorrow and we can sing happy birthday (not too loud as don't want to wake the boys!) and have some cake if we have room after all the Chinese ;) Planning to go to barbers tomorrow as DS1 badly needs his hair chopping and it can't wait til OH gets back.

Have a great weekend everyone :D

To elaborate, I've got a referral email for Pinecone (I don't get anything from it). Payment is £3 per survey in luncheon vouchers or into Paypal. Surveys can be few and far between though. Think I've done 4 this year so far.

Hi Sarah, I think I did need that sleep, I do feel a bit better for having it but still feel rubbish, I need to try and get better cause I have work tomorrow night! OH recieved a letter from the company he had interview with and its a no :( the agency he got the interview through has said it is because of the travelling, they have had people start then given up when something more local to them comes along .... :( he has another interview a week on tuesday in sheffield though :)
Littly is still poorly, she is lying asleep on daddy atm, her tempt has dropped a little, and the sickness has stopped today (although she was still doing it through the night!) but now she has something else happening which she can't control so she is really feeling it today bless her. She did ask for her tea though which is a good sign as she had her cuppa tea and kept it down :) must be on the road to recovery ... hopefully!

Sounds like you will have a fantastic night!!! Enjoy your chinese ;) x

Sorry to hear about OH job interview but another one round the corner and closer to home is fab news :D

I can't believe your little one drinks tea, never been able to get mine to take to it. OH drinks loads and I drink a fair amount but the boys seem to hate the stuff  So sorry she's still poorly, hopefully will sleep well tonight and feel much brighter in the morning. Hope you feel much better tomorrow too.

I just realised there was loads of posts on the other page and there was me refreshing over and over D'OH!

Hair dye is on and needs to be scrubbed off in a sec.. argh my arms and everywhere are black lol

I first got involved with a magazine when I submitted my work to a readers gallery for Scrapbook Inspirations. Out of the blue I suddenly received article comissions and was writing pages for them. I have done bits and pieces for companies by checking out their blogs and websites and submitting to their design teams.

I discovered the Scrapbook Apprentice competition and never thought they would choose me in a million years.. then I thought.. why not? There was thousands of applicants and I was lucky to be chosen and I appreciate that every single day. Part of the contract was that I could no longer work anywhere else and this was the hardest thing because I went from a regularly featured artist to disappearing into the shadows!!

Why did I agree to that? Because I wanted some stability in my life. The good thing about magazines is that you get to create items with products you want to but the downside is the pay is poor. Not only that but I also have to make trips to the post office regularly, find the boxes to package my work in and pay the postage! When my work is returned, it is ripped apart with pieces rattling in the box.. basically really heartbreaking.

With magazines, you can be a 'name' in the crafting world and get to say 'hey look at me!!' but the main focus is that you are trying to get noticed by the big companies who will employ and sponsor you. It is a very 'catty' business and shallow. You are basically paid in stash from the big companies but everything you make has to go to them to display at shows and then return to you broken up. So really.. you are working your hard long hours for free stash. I would rather buy my own stash and keep doing what I love for me.

So.. by accepting Scrapbook Apprentice I kinda told myself.. I am quitting the business now and if I win this competition.. it will be absolutely amazing.. a full time paid job designing products for people. If I don't.. I'll have made some amazing friends (you guys) along the way who shared a special journey with me.

I'm still getting paid in stash.. Stash I have to send back to them with my hours of hard work! Stash that is sometimes entirely disgusting.. BUT there is a dream at the end of it.. and I am hoping I can make it so that I can achieve something in my life for me instead of being scared and quitting.

Argh... sorry I didn't mean to type all that!!

I get all of my layouts back at the end of the competition (they're damaged in the photographs so god knows what they will look like in 12 months!) but I can't have my cards.

Rusty, I love your corset.. it's gorgeous.. how come your boss bought you that OH AYE!! My corsets are more like 20 pound cheap shop jobs LOL You are not fat and horrible. I AM !! Be proud of who you are and wear that corset.. i bet you will look stunning you know x
