    3 Laptops in total?
Is any of them heavily down loading?
    Is your wireless network secure?
If it is secure what type of encryption?

  • Remember to do a speedtest while only one laptop is using the internet.

If you do a speedtest from different laptops do they come out nearly the same?

    Try a BT speedtest.

Sounds to me like the router might need a complete reset. But it would mean re-inputting all the information needed to get cr*ppy AOL working again

What are the speed results when just your computers connected with nothing else running?
Are you absolutely SURE no ones hijacked the line?

Download look@lan http://www.lookatlan.com/ it will show you everyone connected to your network. Its possible all the computers are infected with a virus which is making you go through a proxy.

You can view who is connected to your wireless by logging into the router. WEP security isn't as good as WPA so if you have an option in the router to use that use it. If you find someone other that yourself and sons are using the wireless reset the router start again.

I would check that one of your sons isn't downloading heavily as well.

If its none of the above try a reset of the router.
