The oven needs cleaning, and living in a student house it's fair to say it's pretty filthy.
Is there a way of cleaning it OS? Those horrible oven cleaners are disgusting and they make me cough my lungs up!2019 Aim: Save £10,000

Ok in my (mostly) kitchen HHC I managed to:
Clear work surfaces
Put away washing up
Clean WM drawer
Fill and turn on WM
Wipe all the surfaces, appliances (then worried about wiping WM while turned on - figured probably not going to electrocute myself) and cupbaords
Clean the cupboard under the sink (how many plastic bags did I have under there? 67!!!)
Sweep the floor
Put soda crystals down kitchen and bathroom sink and bleach down toilet.
Feeling v Proud of myself! All I need to do is clean the bin and scrub the floor (no mop) and I've done the list!
Sarah - I think it depends on your daughter - can you talk to her about it?
I was shocked at that story as well - it's not that long since I was that age, and I can't imagine that happening to any of my friends then! I think things have really changed in the last few years.Chifundo Uzuri Siochain"All that is gold does not glitter, not all those who wander are lost" - JRR Tolkien~~ Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, but love leaves a memory no one can steal ~

lamb neck fillet - stew
ham - with salad or as pasta sauce
green and red peppers
broccoli
watercress - salad or soup
celariac x 2 (roast)
feta - crumble of roast veg than cook en croute
sprouts
eggs - quiche/omelette
leeks
puff pastry
carrots (roast)
kale
plain yoghurt
parmesan
cheddar
parsnip x loads (roast)
whole unprepared beetroot x 4 (roast)
Any ideas ladies... and oddjob?
Roast veggies...
You can have them with the lamb joint, sprouts & broccoli...
... then as a veggie thing mix them with some kale and softened peppers, pile into puff pastry and voila... veggies en croute (I usually top with goats cheese, so a bit of feta crumbled into the veggies might be nice, just go easy on it...
... or freeze the roast veggie for another day
... or make roast veggie soup
Lamb neck fillet - make into a stew with leeks, carrots, peppers and maybe bung in some flageolet, borlotti or cannellini beans if you have any. Add yoghurt to make it creamy
ham - if you have any pasta & cream, make this into a pasta sauce, and server with salad
cabbage - make a bean soup with cabbage, peppers, carrots, onion and maybe a chilli to perk things up!
Hope this helps...0 -

ladymay - recent research on this thread has revealed that, sadly, elbow grease is the best way of cleaning the oven! It's important to try not to get it perfect in one go. Start by wiping it down with vinegar when it's still warm. Try an aluminium scourer for the tough bits. The shelves can be soaked in soda crystals in the bath to help degrease them, but you'll still need to scrub them. Keep doing this every week, and eventually you'll find the oven underneath the gunk!
It took me ages to get back from the gym... and I'm now running behind (just had lunch, bean soup with veggies & chilli, yummy!), and I'll have to go back at 6ish for yoga & pilates! Not sure whether to do this, or to get some work done and then make sure I get a decent walk tomorrow followed by power yoga... I'm hopeless at decisions!
And to all those who have found it warm today... readjust the settings on your heating controllers, maybe just put the start time off by half an hour, or you could do what I do - to make sure it doesn't stay on late, I have it set for 10-10.30pm, and if I need it before that I have to make the effort to switch it on.
All of us (except soappie! should be able to get the bills down if it keeps warming up!

Sarah my neice is exactly 9 months older than DD and great pals with both DD and DS and used to sleep in DS's room (he has a guest bed that slides out from under his bed - really good - but I digress) anyhoo we stopped that quite some time ago now - when DS was about 12.
He announced he was going to sleep at GFs and when I asked where he said her room. Despite his assurances that they wouldn't 'do' anything (because of what I would say and what her mum would say if he did) that is NOT going to happen. I wouldn't even be comfortable about her sleeping here in DDs room tbh

Well for those of you who think I have a big mouth - I can officially eat a plane faster than my children!!!!:rotfl: Has anyone else got the guiness book of records for the Wii - it's so entertaining. Right, i've had my hour of fun and now it's another 60 in 60 challenge for me.
Not sure of the answer to the sleepover....my DS has sleepovers with his best friend who's a girl but they're still only 8 and I don't think they've actually noticed they're opposite sex. I'm the time will come though and then they'll hate each other!! :rotfl:
