Valentine's Day - What did you get/give?

Options
Hiya folks,

I thought I'd start this thread for a bit of fun - and also for moneysaving tips on what people bought and what you/your loved one thought of it!

Me first then - I bought my significant other a Body Shop pampering gift set, plus some hand & body lotion; a Thornton's cake (only £3.50) and a card (from Card Factory)!

It went down really well! :D I'll try and work out how to post some pics!

I received a gorgeous box of Thornton's chocolates (we both love Thornton's) and a card. Last night, I was taken out for couple of beers (to a Wetherspoons pub - at my request!), followed by a lovely Indian meal. Two courses, plus pappadums etc, lager, and a bottle of bring-your-own-wine at a total cost £30! Plus, the restaurant was giving away their decorations to all last diners to eat, so we got a Valentine's helium balloon too!

A lovely day! :)

  • We gave each other homemade cards! :money:

We went out for lunch at La Tasca intending to use clubcard vouchers, only to find that they wern'et valid as we'd ordered off the lunchtime promotional menu. We had to pay with real money!!! Not very MSE!
Best wins: ITV Real Deal CASH,Trip to Lapland.
  • Poor you! I do feel for you both!

Well done for posting though, as the rest of us have now learned that we need to make sure that we tell the restaurant that we're going to pay with vouchers - before we order - so that we can find out what we can eat and what we can't!
  • Me and my OH didn't buy each other anything this year (at my request). Instead we stayed in, as all our friends were being lovey dovey, and I cooked (which is rare) and made jelly in heart shaped ramekins.
  • Well we were going to buy gifts for each other, i was going to give him a hamper with computer game etc but we had a conversation a couple of weeks ago and decided we couldn't really afford proper gifts so said we would get each other something small or nothing
I made him a pot of love Lindt chocs x2 bags (£4) 3 scratch cards (£3) red glass / pot (£1) tissue paper (50p). How bad did I feel when i gave him it and then opened my pressie which was a pink ipod nano which i've been wanting for ages - also felt quite bad that me and the boys helped him to eat his chocs also.
We did save by staying in and he cooked me a lovely meal and we watched a dvd (normally we would've went out and to the pics - i know i'm justifying his buying but i do looooooove my ipod x

Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together
  • I gave him a hamper full of red things, 2 blu ray discs and a pot of love ....
I recieved nothing but an argument :(

So I went out today and bought myself 2 boquets of roses from asda for £1.50 (reduced) and paid for them on his card without him knowing :D

Oh Rusty, after all the effort you went to for your OHs hamper I'm so sorry for you getting nothing in return. I would have been gutted.

OH got me a bunch of flowers, and I made him 3 pouches; 1 with chocolates; 1 with furry handcuffs; and 1 (well I can't say, so will leave it to your imagination!!)
2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family.
It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,000
  • I gave my OH the Tana Ramsay Homemade cookbook (he is a cookbook-a-holic he can't have enough of them and I've read good reviews for this one, OH liked it anyway). I also made him a heart shaped chocolate with crushed biscuit in the middle and decorated it in mini choc balls and I also made him a pod (or sour cream tub) with minstrels, love hearts and a lottery ticket inside).

OH bought me some perfume which I wasn't expecting so I was v.happy with that :) He was working all valentines day so we went out last Tuesday to a restaurant and had a nice meal.

Hi CT, to be honest I knew I would get nothing as he doesn't do valentines day where I do ... I'm not bothered about getting nothing as I don't give to recieve, however I am gutted at him being to throughless and starting an argument ... swine! ... there is still an atmosphere now ... I think I will dissapear out tomorrow and stay out of the way!
