I'm planning to quit smoking next week (now THAT'S money-saving!) and went into Mr B's to pick up my prescription today. The SA was lovely and said that even though you can just pick the gum off the shelf, you save a pound or two by getting on prescription. So it all went through (plus my lunch - didn't split cos knew I wouldn't get a perkie with a prescription).
Got the gum back to work to give a looksie and turns out my GP had prescribed me the heavy-duty one for 20-30 a day smokers, which I am far from.
The downside was, had to go and get the right ones as felt it was stupid to potentially TRIPLE my nicotine intake in the process of quitting!
Went back, and bought them off-the-shelf, and it was only when paying I realised that yes, the prescription saved me £1.50, but this time I got a perkie and points!
I'm going to ask at in store if I can get a refund on my prescription, working on theory that it is over-the-counter, but am willing to chalk it up as a loss.
But the moral of the story is - cigarettes don't earn perkies or AC points! If I needed a final incentive/push to do this, I think I've just found it!
I am really looking forward to my evening's Bootsing trip proper now!0 -
Haven't got round to reading whole of last day or two's thread but just wanted to say how nice and friendly the SAs seem to have become in my local store (just to balance all the 'dragon SA' stories). There are 1 or 2 new ones who are lovely and tell customers which vouchers to use, and things like "If you buy this seperately you'll get another voucher" etc.
Anyway, managed to use my 2 x "£5 off P&P" ACM vouchers on 2 x P&P handcreams for nothing !! It took some doing, and I had to buy a few essentials to get the perkys, but I ended up at the till with a little huddle of SAs gathered around me, them gasping at how wonderful it all was and "how clever I was" !!
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: but also.
Went for a coffee and my cheeks were literally this colour:, although more like this colour actually  (but with a happy face).
But thanks to all the lovely ladies and gent/s for your expert advice on here and helping me get them for nothing - you're fab !!0 -
Been to Boots today and the ACM was churning out those £5 off p&p big time, not really got the pennies till payday to earn some purkies to get the handream so if anyone is local to me and would like them I can meet them at Bromborough Boots as they run out today.
Did manage to use 3 of them , went to a small boots and found some No7 Mens Protect & Perfect Moisturising Eye Cream 15ml reduced to £5, there were no exclusions on the voucher to say womens and nothing to say can't be used on reduced. Anyway the till beeped so SA said it was because they had no ACM instore that the tills were not configured to accept these vouchers however due to what has been posted on here I knew that was a load of tosh so insistd that she rand CS as I did not believe that there was anyreason why the voucher would not go through as I had met the conditions. Anyway she came up with a solution to save me time and not bother CS ~ as they were running the new purkies she would give me 3 purkies:D to get the cream ( she did ask the manager if this was ok ) so I got 3 lots of the mens stuff for nothing. Never seen this reduced before and think it is quite new ...so guess who will be in the good books
Also managed to get 3 of these for £4.90 no reduced SEL saw them on the desk ( obviously put there because they were cheap;) ) so got them price checked and they were £2.45 on 3 4 2This is a do-it-yourself test for paranoia: you know you've got it when you can't think of anything that's your fault.Robert M. Had some good shops today using up all my vouchers. I picked up 3 of the little NC cupcakes at 61p but no acm points for me, still they look nice. Got lots of Frizz Ease and skincare and was lucky enough to womble a purkie and a wrinklie too yay!
I suspect today might be a prime wombling day for those going out this afternoon or tonight, thanks to kind people realising vouchers are ending and they won't be using.
No special bargains around to report on, except maybe on Garnier items. Got an eye cream for dark circles for just over £4 so around half price. Different to the caffeine roll on that another poster mentioned was reduced. Quite a few Garnier items seemed to be on offer.
Managed to help two ladies in store with suggestions to use vouchers on and combinations from info on the forum and they were delighted in the end!
Got another GWP with my P and P serum which was fab, but I wasn't allowed to check the lipstick inside before getting. Sadly it is another Plum Beautiful which is far too dark for me. I have 3 of these now (two don't have a cellophane wrapper though but they came like that in gwp and are completely untouched). Ideally I would love a light colour like bare or pink lemonade.Wondered if anyone had any ideas on this, if so please pm.0 -
I cant believe it!!
Since I joined the wonderful world of Bootsing I have been bigging it up to my friends and family - well anyone who would listen really. I had been unsuccessul in my recruiting of my friend at work until today when I brought in my lovely new No. 7 GWP I obtained on Saturday after buying some concealer and wipes and using my purkie leaving me with £13.XX to pay. Anyway after my friend saw my goodies I gave her a purkie and sent her on her way at lunch time to Braehead. Well how mortified am I - she came back to the office with the cry "I hate Boots".
The No.7 SA had advised her that she could not get a GWP as she hadnt spent enough even though her total spend before using her Purkie was £18.XX. The SA said that it was "company policy" that she couldnt get the gift until she spent £18 or over and that the voucher could not be used in conjunction with any other offers!!!So what exactly is it we have all been doing then?
Make your mind up ladies! The lovely lovely SA who helped me and my mum on Saturday at Silverburn told me that the gift is scanned first with your goods and you DO get it when you use a Purkie. I feel so bad for my friend now because it was my recommendation!
Cheers Mr B for making me look like a right donkey!Sorry way too much waffling but just wanted to share this unfortunate experience!
Wonder if you friend was at the NO7 counter by any chance?I ask as I once had a minor 'incidentl with girls on that counter in that store not with vouchers mind. Various things including not wanting to put points vouchers or acm valid vouchers through. I was later at main till and mentioned to a lovely SA who is so nice, and she gave me a knowing look as did her colleague and asked the names and strongly suggested I speak to manager. I was really reluctant to but she persuaded me as she thought I had definitely been misinformed and turns out manager also agreed in my favour!0 -
just back from my local store. Did a quick scan for reduced sels and found the following reduced from £4.88 to £1.22
beautifully delicious, moistur-licious papaya & mango body lotion and honey and almond body lotion. I got 2 of each. Both come in 500ml bottles and are worth keeping a look out for. They smell gorgeous. They also had the body butters reduced, but not by much so I left them:D
HE is still full price. Not that I was thinkng of buying any though I have enough! But it would've been nice for someone else - who hasn't been able to get any - to take advantage of the 100 points offer. The DNAge thingies are still £7 odd too:rolleyes: come tomorrow, both items will be reduced. I'd bet my life on it. The manager in that store is a tight ...watsit:(
If anyone is looking for smiley perfumes, they had loads on a display near the perfume counter. All priced from just £2 up to £5 depending on the size. I had a wiff of a tester and it actually smells really nice. I didn't buy any though as I have way too many perfumes already. HTHS:D
I walked around in circles, from the skincare section to the haircare section looking for free products to spend my vouchers on. On my third lap around the haircare section I spotted 2 x MM styling gum in amoungst other hair products. I had them price checked and they scanned at £1.47, so free with hairy:D I redeemed the rest of my vouchers on JF serums, so also free:)
All the santuary products are still full price and the p&p serum I got yesterday for 1/2 price (the one in the glass bottle) is still £18.50:eek:0 -
Im starting to think that its a prerequisite of the No7 sales advisors to be as obstinate as possible.
I try to avoid the No7 counter at all costs, just sneak up, pick my things and trundle off elsewhere to pay, but just now the queue was enormous everywhere else so i used the No7 counter to buy the hand cream with the acm and perkie vouchers, she refused, only one voucher per item....i smiled and said "oh, i'll leave it then thanks", walked off, quick detour and paid at a perfume counter, that lady just said...ooooo bargain...well done!0 -
Used up my haries & wrinklies today on JF serums, JF hairsprays & olay wash and got 3 17 blusher sets reduced to £1 each so a happy little shop.
Just wanted to thank the OP for reminding me about the mens expert AC voucher for £1.50 this was a week or so ago I think, today saw some expert shave oil reduced to .44p and remembered about the ACM voucher so was able to get 4 for .26p :T
Also thanks Agent Scarlet because I used your combo on the No.7 bath soak & gwp0 -

In the store I go to I have a favourite SA who is wonderful. She is always happy top serve no matter how many vouchers or transactions and is generally helpful. I let CS know today as I think she deserves recognition by her manager. Hope she gets brownie points or a reward! :T0 -
Have been keeping an eye out for the NC cupcakes but non to be found, I did find however some Delicious?? body lotion for £1.22 towards a pamper hamper.
