Does he really need a 17 in MacBook Pro for basic uni use? You could get a decent refurb MacBook for a thousand less.
When I were a lad at t'uni, we were lucky if we could afford a secondhand Amstrad PCW...

I used to dream of an Amstrad.

Best I could afford was a second hand Commodore Vic 20.

Very intuitive Marty, that looks great!
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I had an Amstrad CPC-464, Green Screen too.
I had a flight simulator game and loads of other tapes for it, I used to take the tapes and play them in my parents Hi-Fi full blast with the bass turned right up, used to fek the neighbours off with the loud data-noise, so crazy.

Er the people in the youtube comments seem to be taking this a tad seriously. However, I would love the chance to try something like that just once.

OK, well back to the OP's topic, buying a MacBook Pro cheap.
Honestly, if it must be new, the Further Education discount is getting you 14% ish off. This cannot be beaten by any other retailer AFAIK, just buy it! Quidco has worked before on top of Edu discounts, but currently doesn't if you read the Quidco Apple page. Only other thing I can think of would be to pay with an American Express cashback card for an extra 2.5%(?)
Or, as previously mentioned, go for the 15" MacBook Pro, or go to Apple's refurb store, or go second hand. As far as I can see, that's all there is!

Another PC V.s Mac argument really. Maybe the mac users feel they have to say they're better than PC's so much to justify the £1000's of pounds they've just wasted on it :rotfl:

I'm just kidding dont worry, i'm sure if your a graphic designer etc.... then a mac is a god send. For every day ease of use though pc wins hands down everytime. Also for the price of the laptop your looking at you could get a very good spec'd alienware laptop. Or build your own and have an AMAZING laptop for that price.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
