My own view is that very soon they will start to announce green energy build /storage facilities or nuclear to do that they need bigger profits then they already had and they have struck a deal with the government.

I hope they don’t just take most of the profits in bonuses and for their shareholders especially in today’s climate (excuse the pun).

They dont want to attract too many new customers as this will force them to reduce prices just maximise profits from their own cutomers. Iam afriad they are all as bad or good (depending on your view point) as each other.

The other tool they will use is the over complex tariff systems they have to muddle everything up.

You do seem to be enjoying this a little TOO much, which does prompt me to suggest that you are now indulging in just the same sort of inappropriate behaviour (i.e. you working for an energy company and getting involved in slagging a rival) that you accuse them of. What's the difference? Only difference I can see is they actually make it clear to even the casual reader that they work in the industry and, indeed, the actual company. Whereas you, err, don't...

As I have stated I do work in the industry, but I would like to know why gas prices aren't coming down for Eon or any company in fact. I would happily slag the company I work for, for their measly 4% reduction however I would rather not lose my job because it is unlikely I will find anything else.

I am not having a go at a rival (because I don't care which energy company is cheaper or better) I just want to know when gas prices will be coming back to reasonable prices.

If we do, it will be the usual trick of making them more than 9% cheaper, to entice us all to move tariffs, before bumping this one up more than the others. Either way, I very much doubt my electricity ends up 9% cheaper. Usually, they manipulate the online/direct debit discounts.

Problem is though, I think they all do it!

I suspect that you are quite right. I doubt that my electricity will reduce by 9% and as for my gas..................lets not go there:mad:

Blimey, this thread has been really busy, sorry I haven’t replied sooner, as you know I only work office hours.

I will try an answer as much as I can for you…. But if I miss anything please feel free to ask!

EnergyOnline Extra Saver 13 may be launched in the future, there are no current plans for this, but if it happens you can contact E.ON or look at the website to enquire about prices and discounts.

Its hard for me to answer questions regarding specific accounts as I can’t see the details of why your Direct Debit may have been increased, the main reasons for this is because the account is in debit, the payments are not enough to cover your usage or change of prices or circumstances.

If the Direct Debit amount does appear to be incorrect, I would contact E.ON again and give your calculations and see if an agreement can be made.

    Helena,
Do you till stand by this quotation of yours

The reason that our price reduction is only for electricity is that we’ve already been amongst the cheapest out there for gas during the winter, when people need it most. And although British Gas dropped their gas prices by 10%, it really only brought them into line with what ours have been for months.

I have gas with Eon and have been reading this thread with interest.

A rep from the company knocked on my door last night trying to sell dual fuel to me. When I told him how disappointed I was about Eon not reducing their gas prices, he gave me the same line about them being cheaper than everyone else for gas. I wasn't going to argue on my doorstep, nor was I going to let him in. Since Powergen changed to Eon the price I'm paying each month has more than doubled so I simply don't believe they are cheaper than anyone else.

    I would also like to ask (as KimYeovil) has;

Why is the standing charge on your standard tariff so extortionate.

    It is £129.24 per annum!

That is nearly 3 times the charges made by your competitors.

(Note I live in the East Mids region Rate 1 first 900 units 25.02p Rate 2 10.66p).

    Helena E-on.

Is there any possiblilty that you could give an answer or look into this for me.

    I am interested.

    Thanks.
