Also if we are being naughty. butter outside of 2 bits of bread. Cus a hole in the centre of one and put butter side down in a hot frying pan. Drop a touch more butter in the 'hole' crack egg into the hole. Fry until white is pretty solid, sprinkle some cheese over yolk and maybe a bit of cooked bacon/ham. Top with 2nd unholled bit of bread butter side up, Flip over the whole lot and fry other side until golden. Result ham/cheese/egg toastie with yolk intact.

I don't recommend cheese with sheppards pie toasties... you can't taste it... and it's a waste of money and calories though!
Although you can use toast... the toastie machines are the best!

Ok now while I've got you all here , can you tell me how to stop the tatties sinking in the mince when you make shepherd's pie ? Mine look like the Titanic, sinking fast.0

Your mince must be too wet or thin Mardatha, chuck more veggies or lentils in, or less water. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

I don't care if the tatties sink! Mmmm mince and tatties! Agreed though that your mince mix is a bit too wet if they're sinking, it should be more solid. A good bulking out with finely chopped veggies and using a bit less water will sort that outOfficial DFW Nerd Club - Member #398 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts :T

Also if you allow the mince mixture to cool first it doesn't sink.0

I used to have this problem especially when using mashed potatoes. I found that if I put the cooked mince mix into the dish first and let it cool it would set a bit and it was easier to put the potatoes on top.0 -
ok ty. will try thicker mince0
