I don't know why but they did not allow points from the milk formula we bought - anyone had this before?

Shops are not allowed to promote formula milk for babies in any way, shape or form - that's why you never see them on BOGOF, Extra Points, etc. It is against the law to advertise or promote baby milk, partly due to the fact that a lot of the so-called 'scientific facts' that companies claim about their products are allegedly of a dubious basis. The strongest reason, of course, is that 'breast is best' and promotions on formula have the potential to discourage breastfeeding.

They are allowed to promote follow-on milk as far as I know.

    Zoe

Hi Zoe, I also have a gym ball I would like to take back but what do they give you in return?

I obviously ahem... don't have a reciept for it and I have done so much arguing with sa's lately, I am not up for another fight!

I can't think of any one thing that I need in boots except some cotton wool balls lol as I am stocked to the eyeballs on almost everything I normally use... any suggestions from you lovely people on what I should exchange it for (if I'm allowed that is!)
Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!
    Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945
    Smoke free days = 11 Years :T
Cash saved so far = £125,45,11
  • Hi everyone, just a little more info about the kids soltan packs…. Have just been reading the back of both bottles (sad I know :D but didn't really think of doing this in the shop!)
The first bottle of cream is spf15 which for everyday/school use in the UK is fine (have a 5year old and I start using sun cream on her usually in April and keep putting it on her for months ) and the second bottle is a spray and is a top coat which just needs to be applied over the top of the cream - no need for rubbing. On the top coat bottle it says "Ideal for the UK for school and nursery use as one application protects for up to 4 hours". So I will putting the cream on before she goes to school and sending the bottle of top coat with her into her reception class. As my dd does not need to rub it into face/legs she can do it very quickly herself or the teachers will be more likely to as it is so easy to apply. Plus do not need to worry about £15 bottles going missing  or being lost at school (other mums and dads will know what I mean!)

I think I will also need to buy a higher factor for dd2 (17 months baby), for the odd really hot day we call british summer :rotfl: and for our summer hols if we are lucky enough to afford to go abroad!

Btw (sorry for the stupid question but I feel as if I have just fallen into some sort of Boots marketing ploy) is there any reason why I can't use this spf15 cream at some point.... is it made so differently to the adult version, in short if its ok for our kids why isn't it ok for us adults on the odd warm day or even everyday underneath all our free :rotfl:cosmetics ? Sorry to go off topic. Just think its such a good bargain (£2.49 for 2 bottles and each pack is bogof) and eveybody should benefit if they can find it in Boots.

    Thanks for any replies

    Mega x

I am up at this ridiculous hour because dd2 is teething arggghhhhhh!

Also please bEWARE that suncreams also have a shelf life of a certain period of time and they are less effective with protection, so don;t be conned by bogof with last years creams - false economy.

  • Exposing loopholes in Boots' Advantage card points and getting products for free is one thing. Lets take for example the recent Time Delay 'promotion' where a lot of people were walking in with their voucher(s) and walking out with products for free. Lets also take the other example of Gym balls, and the more recent Everday indulgence range where we've been getting them basically for free too. But actually having the bare-faced cheek to return these goods either in exchange for money back is wrong and will only spoil it for future offers. I don't care how you reply to this (if at all) but I know after speaking to others, they too feel as strongly as I do about this 'practice'. Please think about it before you take things back in this way.

Do you use a PAYG mobile? Last week I returned an item of clothing without a receipt and exchanged it for credit on my mobile phone (£10 top-up). The SA gave me another of the Skincare/choc vouchers even though I hadn't actually spent £10 (part was what I had spent on the clothing the previous week).

I remember reading on here that somebody had ripped the vouchers off first and handed them over at the till. Someone had also done it that way when shopping at Tesco.

Oh goodness, that's what I've been doing! :o

I thought that everyone here was doing it that way. I've felt a bit sneaky but the thought that you all were doing it too gave me the bottle. I'm not going to do that again.
