Advantage of freeview built-in: Save considerable cost of good quality scart cable if you use external freeview box.

Like about 3 quid. Do not waste your money on silly SCART leads - they are a scam, especially for the short length you need to connect two adjacent boxes. Richer Sound's alternative cash cow to extended guarantees.

this seems like a goo deal, dvd recorder and hard disk drive. use quidco and newsletter sign up for another £14 OFF.

No freeview! Therefore no EPG, and a pain to programme two boxes if you hook a Freeview receiver to it. You will also suffer cascaded coding losses.

I bought a Panny ES20D a few months back when they dropped from £300 to £200. Bargain then and still excellent quality now. Didn't want to pay Sky lots for a SKY+ box and subscription. Just buy lots of disks

Gonzo - just out of curiosity - have you had any problems recording BBC3/BBC4/CBBC/CBeebies? I am waiting for Panasonic to get back to me... but if I set a recording during the day for a night recording of BBC3 it records CBBC. If I set a recording at night for BBC3 for a recording at night of BBC3 it records BBC3. CBBC and BBC3 are broadcast on the same signal I think but switches from one channel to the other at around 7pm. I think my Panasonic is 'remembering' the wrong signal.

    Just to add some info,

bought the Panny from Tesco today and was told that it will revert to full price on the 21st Febuary, so if you are going to buy one do so soon

    "Big-up" to Redzak!
Many many thanks. I've just scooped a great bargain of just the kind of HDD and Record-to-disc DVD Recorder I was after. (no Freeview but I wasn't worried about that).

An 80GB HDD that records to + and - discs too. From a reputable retailer with 12 months warranty.

The RRP on these machines is £260. Maplin are well priced anyway at £200 but they are on sale for £149.97. They had 2 graded machines with full warranty at just £129.99.
By using Redzak's voucher and Quidco savings I've just bought a £260 unit for only £116.84 with free p+p.

It's just what I was after, so many thanks RedZak.
    Cheers, Wilf.

    .
    Keep smiling!

At £42.99? It's a complete rip-off I'm afraid. These cables are just a scam.

I'm afraid it only records to + discs, according to the link provided.
