59.2% THAT IS JUST DAMN RIDICULOUS!

Put the bloody thing in your purse and forget about it.

Don't for gods sake run it to the limit.

I don't even intend taking it out of the house :rotfl:

They do not calculate risk/limit increments or cheques based on balance or previous payments. Bottom line is that so long as you pay the minimum, and do not abuse the card or go overlimit then you'll get regular increases.

It is a principle of trust and risk not simply repayment as people can fiddle this to see what system works best... like me; I have 3 cards. I pay one off in full, on the other I pay minimum by DD and a couple of bill payments which clears the amount (3 payments per month) and on the other I leave about £20 balance each month.....

I'm testing the best way to conduct your account. However, i've since been told there is no right or wrong way. Just pay the minimum and never miss payments and you'll be treated the same as Joe Bloggs that clears his in full each month.

Mint.co.uk changed my direct debit date from the 56th day to 46th day as I was paying in full by direct debit.
Once I had a missed payment due to an IT error by the bank where I have my current account, so mint blocked my card... as I was stung once by DD failur charges due to bank errors... when I moved my current account I asked Mint to stop taking DD. once the move was completed I called them and asked them to set-up a min payment DD and the proposed date was again 56th day.
any one else had such an experience?

Your excited at that  try getting a proper card with a proper lender at a fantastic 9% yes you heard (%, that could possibly be due to me having connections, a perfect credit score and a special discount applied to all my products held with the private bank i deal with.

Ill never understand these people who get excited at at rate like that,no doubt you'll go out and blow it all straight away
I really don't see how gloating about your financial position helps.

Generally people on this thread are applying for Vanquis cards in a bid to try and repair their credit rating, not 'blow it all straight away'.

I've read people saying they got a phone call saying they've been accepted and declined.

I'm crossing my fingers for you, :rotfl:

Its not like Vanquis to ring and say sorry, maybe they are undecided and ring to verify you, then if they aren't happy with something they maybe make a nagative decision.

Not many lenders ring to say no.

Fair point but you have to consider that Vanquis is classed as a Sub Prime card, therefore people that apply for it are struggling to get credit facilities elsewhere. Do you think for a minute that if we could get a 9% card we'd entertain Vanquis? I hardly think so.

We all have to start somewhere. Unfortunately, with risk comes rate (rate for risk - heard of that before?) and Vanquis are actually one of the best banks out there because they give the average person who may, or may not, have made mistakes in the past whereby most other lenders simply decline us.

Therefore, thanks for gloating but please understand that at some point you'd have paid a higher APR - pointless saying you never, everyone does on their first card because there is no rolling credit history on you so it's a total gamble.

The object of Vanquis, if used correctly, is to spend a little (like petrol or food shopping) and then pay it in full so you pay no interest and this generates nice green [0]'s which then, after a few months generate our history.

It is when we have the history that we then start to see the mainstream card offers arriving.

Regards to your comment about private banking and who you know etc, I think you need to check again cos 'who you know' doesn't come into lending decisions unless you'd already qualified and they just pushed through the application. Private banks are usually investment funded with shareholders and for a member of staff to risk money on 'friends' would be severely frowned upon so I doubt 'who you know' had much to do with anything, more a case of you qualified for that rate.

Did you by some chance think that people on here apply for vanquis as if they have a choice, this card is aimed at people trying to rebuild their credit history. Or did you post on here to wind people up? Troll perhaps

So what if you have a card with 9% APR? How does that affect us exactly? Do you think we care? :rotfl:
