I have a Vanquis card without any Vanquis logo on it. When you first apply they do give you that option.
If they ever offer me a different colored card I would hope the Vanquis logo would still be missing.0 -
Hello. Just a word of warning about Vanquis. I have had this card a few years. It repaired my credit record and I have gone on to get cards at o% on balance transfers no problem.
I only use the Vanquis a few times each year. I owed £11 was due to pay £11 by 7th March which arrived with them on time, however on the same date they tried to take £5 by Direct Debit and then 2 days later £5 is credited back as payment reversal, then a £12 fee added as unpaid item fee.
The bank account they attempted the DD from was closed last year. I phoned and asked for the £12 back and have been refused twice. It has now gone to a third department to be looked at.
Each month I get a text from them telling me to pay £x by the due date and all my statements on EVanquis mention nothing about a Direct Debit being set up. They simply say pay £x by the due date.
Vanquis seem to think the £12 is justified and that I am in the wrong here. I did give the Financial Ombudsman a call who say in their opinion I have a good chance of obtaining a refund but have to wait on the final response from Vanquis before they get involved. Vanquis have to pay £500 or so if I go to the FOS. I don't need to pay anything.
They did help me obtain a decent credit score but their customer service is awful with them all saying they are not authorised to refund £12.
Funnily enough, my partner incurred a charge because interest took her over her limit, Rang up, getting fobbed off so I spoke to this guy in the call centre, speaking to me like I am trash (must be their presumed normal customer base).
Anyone told him that both me and my partner have accounts and they could RAM them, I will pay them off right now and close the accounts.
Anyway, he said he'd put me on hold, 30 seconds later (probably after twiddling his thumbs) he came back and refunded the charge.
I will once the card performs it's function get rid of them for both me and the missus, appalling customer service!!!I have numerous qualifications in Business and Finance, Accountancy, Health and Safety and am now studying Law.
Don't rely on anything I write as it may be wrong!!!0 -

Hey, yes I agree - when I was speaking to them, it was almost like the staff could not see the common sense in what I was saying and their attitude was like I should be grateful to have the account.
I did get the £12 back eventually and have now closed the account.

1) I got my 'gold' card a couple of months ago and it says VANQUIS BANK very clearly in the top right of the card.
2) Don't they only issue the gold card to accounts on the 2.5k/3k limit, not £750 going up to £1.5k?
3) What is this about cheap/free Experian/Equifax access? I have never heard anything about this and I have been a user of their card for about 5 years and I read all the threads on here?
Is this an early april fools or do you have a completely different and special version of the vanquis card to the rest of us?
1) Just got my replacement gold card which replaced my gold card that expires this month. The Vanquis Bank logo is still on the top right corner. The only change now is that there is "GOLD" written on the top left corner (This card activates in April, so this is the latest gold card design).
2) My gold card was sent as soon as I hit the £1250 mark.
3) Ditto except I had the account for 3 years.0 -
If I opt for a paper statement, think they normally charge something like 49p, if I make no charges against my card during the month will they still raise a nil paper statement and charge me 49p for the privilege?
I was wondering this as I plan to stop using this credit card for a few months, so if I opted for paper statements, if I went 3 months without using, will I still get 3 paper statements with 3 lots of 49p to pay?
Anyone got experience of the paper statements when no transactions occur for many months?

I also found that link when trying to verify the poster's statement about free access to Experian reports & it does not back up their statement. The crux of the announcement in your link is thatExperian will act as Vanquis Bank’s principal credit bureau data provider and will provide the bank with its Transact SM application processing and decisioning system and its Detect fraud prevention system. Vanquis Bank will also have access to Experian Fusion, the company’s hosted database marketing system.
...which is a Business 2 Business contract, not resulting in Vanquis offering customers Free access to Experian. Think poster who stated that may have been confused and should urgently check their bank statements to make sure they are not being charged shed loads for it, as Experian don't do refunds0 -
Wondering if anyone could help. I got my vanquis card July 2012 with a £250 starting limit, in December 2012 the imit was raised to £500. I use the whole amount each month (except for about £2 so it doesnt go over my limit) and pay in full by direct debit. I have just paid my May payment (so 5 payments made now since my last limit increase), when am I likely to get another limit increase or does it vary for everyone?0

Varys for everyone I'm afraid.
