Shikamaru, don't they text you when your payment is due? I think you can see it online as well.

I've been sold something by vanquis today and I don't know what it is. Lady called me and was talking a lot and fast (vanquis style), all I remember is membemship, 20 pounds voucher, 6.95 per month, no charges if cancelled within 30 days... Hope I will get the voucher withing those 30 days!!

Watch out for the statement, and as soon as it is generated at least pay the minimum amount immediately. The rest balance can be paid say 5 days before the due date.. so that you pay it in full before the due date.. A Direct debit in Full is a Good way... But if the Direct debit fails for any reason [No balance when the DD is processed :-)] .... Don't know if there are any issues reported on Vanquis about processing/crediting of payments timely... as said in few comments about how to use a Vanquis Card.
[I do not have a Vanquis Card, But do have a LTSB card which is set on Full DD]
I am Novice wrt Knowledge on UK Banking industry. I post based on my own experiences and knowledge of using credit cards overseas.
  • good luck with paying off your credit card bill online. it works for a few months then for some strange reason you can no longer pay via a debit card and have to ring the 7p a minute number and don't expect polite members of staff coz they are down right rude.

they will keep on increasing your credit limit but don't be tempted abd paying the minimum payments only decreases your debt by £10 no matter how much you owe.

i have a vanquis card and am trying my damnest to get away from vanquis and get a balance transfer credit card. they may seem to good rebuild your credit rating but you pay heaverly for it.

You're not supposed to build up debt with it.
Its for credit building only. And only then as a last resort.

When I used a vanquis card for about a year I only ever made payments online, and didn't have any problem at all with it. Ever.

Also, the whole idea of a vanquis card is for credit building. You should be paying in full every month, not the minimum payments, for exactly that reason...it will never end!

Well......after being discharged from bankruptcy for nearly four years, I decided to have a go and apply for a Vanquis card as everyone said it's good for improving credit ratings. I applied online, got a call this morning and was accepted. Don't get me wrong, I have no intention of going silly with it...far too scared and much wiser now. The interest is huge- but I hope to generate more confidence in other lenders at some stage and get my credit rating back to normal. Can't imagine the hubby will be too pleased- but he may at some point, after seeing my c rate improve, decide to give it a go himself....Going br was the best thing we ever did and since then, we have been very cautious...so will see how it goes:)

It was most likely a call centre operated by Stellar UK that called you and the service they sold you on a free month trial is Value Saver Club. You will probably want to cancel it before the month is up.

I usually use internet banking to make payments.
I have noticed they are much slower (2-3 working days) to be credited than both my store cards (1 working day if not same day), but i've never had a cc before so I don't know if this is typical..

That's the same amount of time it takes for my payment using my debit card on eVanquis. So probably about average for Vanquis.
