I agree. The Gold card is 100% related to achieving a £1,500 credit limit but there is otherwise no difference between the gold and regular cards. Why Vanquis have the different cards is beyond me. Maybe the gold card is a physical reward for being good.

I am not sure if there is even a physical reward. I am a gold customer since my limit was raised to £1500 (£2500 now). I still have the standard blue Vanquis card and thought I'd chance it by calling Vanquis a few months back and telling them that my card has become defective in the hope that they would issue me with the new physical gold card.

What arrived was a standard blue card again.

Not sure if there is a Gold card issued by them.

My card from them is "Gold", and was a direct replacement for the Blue card when my limit was raised to £2500 if I remember rightly.

They've recently upped it to 3 grand as well ... pretty sure my APR is still something like 59.9%. I shudder to think the interest per month if I maxed it out.

Thankfully in 3 years, i've never paid a single penny of interest and that's using the card every month for fuel and food.

There is most definitely a Gold card but whether that's still issued now I don't know. I should imagine it is because that's often the only difference between the gold and the regular. Why don't you telephone them and ask them to send you the Gold card?

Thanks I will try phoning them to see if they will send me out the Gold card.

    *Update*

Just called Vanquis and they said that they normally send out the gold card when your regular card expires.

She then went on to say that she can arrange for the gold card to be sent next week if I wanted, which I agreed.

How often do they give increases? I got an increase from £250 to £1,000 around 8 months ago. Spend around £600 a month and always pay off in full.

Oh and whats my next increase likely to be? £1,500?

    thanks
This thread has me so pumped, I headbutted my dog and we both screamed.

Mine went from £250 to £1000 in one go as well.
Your next limit will most likely be £1250.

From then on it should be every 4 months going up by £500 increments.

I think that you have to show that you are utilising the additional limit given though before they increase it further.
  • Excellent thanks for that. Hoping I'll get an increase soon.

What with Christmas and birthdays coming up, I'll probably be using it a lot more anyway so that should hopefully help boost my chances.

  • Actually you become a gold customer with Vanquis when they raise your limit to £1500.

I have never ever heard of Vanquis raising a credit limit by £2500 in just a 5 month period, and in one humongous jump.

I have had the Vanquis coming up to 3 years and believe me, I have gone through every Vanquis post on this site and have never come across a post that states such a high jump in credit limit made by Vanquis.

This would be very irresponsibile of them, being a subprime lender an all, and I don't believe this is a true statement with regards to that limit jump you stated.

ok i got it wrong it was 9 months and not 5 months see below the account was over 2 years old and was at 500 quid for 2 years as i didnt use it !!

Thanks for going through all that trouble,

but you've just shown to us that your limit was raised from £500 to £2500 over a 9 month period. Add to this another 4-5 months for the next increase to the £3000 you first stated making that 13 -14 months from the £500 to £3000.

Thats a hell of a difference between your claim of jumping from £500 to £3000 in just a 5 month period. Thats 3 automatic increases every 4 months which now sounds about right.

Had you have posted facts and not wishy washy estimates in the first place, You would not have had to justify yourself to others over your widely inaccurate claim.
