I went with Vanquis because they would give me a card when no one else would touch me with a barge pole. I have no one to blame for that but myself. I started with a limit of £500 in October 2007 and now have a limit of £2500.
I pay them off in full.
I am just about to close my account with them as I now qualify for a mainstream card but I am still pleased that they gave me the opportunity to get there. Yes, the APR is horrendous but I was aware of that when I signed up.Please note that any posts that I make on here are based on my personal opinion, experience and what I have read.0 -

Yep, used in a sensible fashion, these cards and the other credit building products are very useful to some. Like I've said above though, when I read of someone carrying a large balance on one I shudder.
There was one guy on here a few months ago using a Vanquis to draw cash to run his business "We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0 -

Applied for a Vanquis card in July and was given a £500 limit, paid balance in full for first 3 months and was incresed to £1000 still pay balance in full and no problems whatsoever. Good card if you struggle to get a credit card but only if you use it carefully0

I am seriously peeeeved off with vanquis and will never ever touch them again. I got made redundant at the end of October, I had the payment protection on my account so rang up and told them, all fine was told I would not have to pay the monthly payments etc, HOWEVER, in the last week I have had phone calls EVERY day (even at 8am in the morning), the callers are extremely rude to me, chasing me cos i am late on my payment and owe them £40 - the first guy confirmed the notes said I had been made redundant but this had not registered on his system so he updated his notes and also due to my nan passing away last Tuesday he agreed they would not bother me again - STILL I am receiving calls - i don't need this at the moment, why should i be hassled cos they can't sort their systems out. Anyone know how I can get to speak to a manager to stop this as the advisors calling me seem unable to read notes on my account.A home is not a home ..... without a dog0
