wondering what i should do next

discharged jan 07, a year ago found out about the jd williams group so i opened a jacamo account and a brilliant gift shop one, the trick is when you open another dont click the bit were you say you already have another account, that way they all report seperatly, so i bought a £60 item on each and spent 4 months paying off, now there all clear and have £1000 limit on each
just found another jd williams group thanks to the sub prime thread and done the same £60

a month ago got accepted on vanquis, £250 limit, i plan to just spend 20 odd quid a month and pay in full, im not bothered about credit limits or colour of the card like some on her lol

im just using these things for exactly what they are, a tool to rebuild.

i have a couple other normal cards with 10k limit on each but there the wifes, im a named card holder, i was lucky enough to keep her clear of my bad debt and shes crystal clear.

so hopefully recently my file is starting to look good, but opk yes still br on there and defaults etc related to the br, i know i wont be clear untill april 12 but it will be good to prepare my file for when it does so i can vertually get anything at that time as will have a few years clear reporting

    capital one?????

Thought i would hit up this thread and give some respect and thanks to NID.

Vanquis limit increased from £250 to £1000 took about 6 months. It was my first CC and step on the ladder.

Thanks dude - time for a decent reward card me thinks. :D

I've had my Vanquis card for 12 months now and am still on £250
Most probably due to me being late a couple of times with my mobile phone bill. I've had 3 green 0's on my report with Orange for the last 3 months, and everything else is satisfactory, so hopefully I'll finally get an increase soon.

My partner, on the other hand- card for 13 months, up to £1500 credit limit, and went over limit at £250 and got charged for it, and British Gas shows up on his credit report as late payments (we moved and are paying them off in installments at a lower rate).

We have a joint bank account with perfectly used overdraft too, so our files are linked.

    Makes no sense whatsoever!

Went over the limit on my last statement by about £50 (Limit: £1500). I guess that means no more limit increases :(

I heard the maximum limit with Vanquis is £3000, is that correct?

Obviously I don't know your finances, but it looks like you really don't need the temptation of having an increased limit anyway. Having something like £1500 owing on a credit card with such a high APR is bad enough already.

You're right. As of today I've cleared my balance (used a 6 months 0% BT on my flybe card), I never meant to go over the limit - cash interest + cash advance fees did the damage.

Well you've done the right thing.

I know how easy it is for things to spiral out of control, with tempting limits and have also stupidly withdrawn cash from machines too many times.

I know this may sound a bit pedantic but I don't know how pernickety Vanquis are. I am able to reapply for one (it having been 6 months since I last applied) and am wondering whether they take the 6 months from date of application or date of decline?? :D Anyone got any ideas? I was just going to wait to be safe
