I will deffo S.A.R as I am now certian there will be incorrect info on there. I did have to send in ID. I know that T-mobile said they will cifas me when they removed the incorrect info from my credit file however I have never seen it on my files...... It is mad that Vanquis wont accept you. When did you last apply?

Bloody hell, T-mobile threatened to CIFAS you why?

Are you on the Electoral Roll? How old are you? These could be a reason behind why ID was being asked to be sent in or not much information your credit file to confirm your identity.

My feeling is that there could be something held at CIFAS. My reasoning behind that is we aren't on the Electoral Roll yet and none of my family had to send ID in.

I last applied in January. I'm not making any further applications to nobody until my defaults are removed.

I did have to send in ID.

Never has any cifas markers showing.

Had loads of linked addresses I knew nothing about and some companies showing defaults that I had never had agreements with.

Got all of the defaults and linked addresses removed...

There's your problem. The CRA's have removed the adverse data but the spy companies (Hunters etc) have not! I'd be looking to SAR Hunters - 10 quid, Experian Limited - Experian Decision Analytics - 2 quid and Synectics Solutions Ltd also 2 quid.

Links are found here: #95 and a letter template is found below in new post for you.

    Hope this helps....

EXPERIAN DA SAR LETTER - MUST SEND £2.00 CHEQUE WITH APPLICATION
THE INFORMATION CONTAINED WITHIN THIS LETTER AND ALL ATTACHEMENTS ARE FOR THE SOLE INTERNAL USE OF EXPERIAN DA AND ARE NEITHER TO BE USED AS REFERENCE NOR TO BE FOLLOWED UP WITHOUT EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM THE APPLICANT.

    The Compliance Officer
Experian Limited - Experian Decision Analytics
    Seabank House, Wight Moss Way
    Southport

    My Name and address

    6 March 2009

    Dear Experian,

SUBJECT ACCESS REQUEST (SAR) UNDER DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998

Please send me all data that your company holds relating to me, my address or person. This is to include details of every company, individual and organisation with whom you have shared data about me for the last 6 years, also including my current most up-to-date credit report.

Where you have shared data about me with other parties, I require that you supply me with true copies of documents that show that you have done so in a lawful manner and with my written & signed consent. Where your company holds and processes data for purposes of my credit file & credit report, I require that you provide documents to show that the data held is current, accurate and relevant.

Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998, you are obliged to send all data that you hold on file for the past 6 years. However, if you hold data beyond 6 years, under the above act, you must supply it on demand, I am demanding it if it is available. If you no longer hold data beyond 6 years, I would like a signed declaration from your data controller and a copy of all documents pertaining to its proper disposal.

All data, including data held on microfiche or other such storage systems must be provided within a reasonable timescale, a maximum of 7 days is allowed in line with the ICO guidelines and I do expect your response within this timeframe. I enclose the statutory fee of £2.

For reference, my previous addresses spanning back the 6 years are as follows:

ENTER PREVIOUS ADDRESSES FOR THE LAST 6 YEARS

I have attached with this SAR, documentation to prove myself and my address. Should you however, feel it pertinent to require alternative documentation then please request it and I’ll be happy to supply it to you, within reason.

I am not prepared nor do I legally have to provide you with an original document because I have superseded this by sending you a certified true copy of my Passport, verified by the Post Office who as you no doubt already know, are the main authorisation body for accepting Passport Applications.

I have sent a payment of £2 for the SAR, so please do not reply asking for £10 because in case you were not aware; the following guidelines explain all:
‘Under the Data Protection Act, individuals can ask to see the information about themselves that is held on computer and in some paper records. If an individual wants to exercise this subject access right, they should write to the person or organisation that they believe is processing the data.

A subject access request must be made in writing and must be accompanied by the appropriate fee. In most cases, the maximum fee will be £10, but this can vary, particularly if the information requested is for health or educational records. If a subject access request is made to a credit reference agency, then the fee is £2, and the information must be provided within seven working days. A request must include enough information to enable the person or organisation to whom the subject is writing to satisfy itself as to their identity and to find the information.

A reply must be received within 40 days (excluding credit reference agencies) as long as the necessary fee has been paid. A data controller should act promptly in requesting the fee or any further information necessary to fulfil the request. If a data controller is not processing personal information of which this individual is the data subject, the data controller must reply saying so.’

The following quote was taken from the Information Commissioners Office, found here: http://www.ico.gov.uk/tools_and_resources/glossary.aspx#s

I look forward to your imminent response, with the data requested.

    Yours faithfully,

With respect to the SAR request above (#117 ) it is never advisable to sign using your normal signature as the CRA's have been known to cut and paste! So with mine i've sent cheques off using a different signature slightly but passable to my bank. I then photocopied each cheque and sent a letter recorded to each company.

Also, it is only with CRA's that you pay less (2.00) - CRA's also have to respond within 7 working days, Hunters are allowed 40 days and they charge 10 pounds. If you were sending the SAR to Hunters, you'd remove the following text altogether:

Remember to also change the time period allowed from 7 days to 40 days and also the fee from 2 to 10 (para 4 from SAR).

Hope this helps - good luck!

To know for certain if there are any hidden it would be worth S.A.R them, it costs £10 and they have to by law send you everything they have on you, it takes up to 40 days.

Mate, CRA's only have 7 working days to respond and deal with SAR - not the standard 40. Hunters would get 40 days as they are not classed as a CRA. You're right with CIFAS, they are also not classed as a CRA and so they have 40 days to comply, they also charge 10 pounds and you need to download the form from their website (Here: http://www.cifas.org.uk/default.asp?edit_id=606-59)

    2. Submit a Subject Access Request (SAR) to CIFAS

In accordance with the Data Protection Act (1998) CIFAS may only disclose to you CIFAS data held about you.
Please note CIFAS is not a credit reference agency and does not hold public information or payment history data.
If you wish to request a copy of any data held about you on the CIFAS database or in certain manual CIFAS files:
    • Fully complete and return the Form
    • Enclose a cheque/Postal Order for £10 made payable to CIFAS (with your name and address on the reverse).
    • Enclose 2 identity documents. Click here to see a list of acceptable documents

No Protective Registration is not negative. All it does is force lenders to assess you manually so you can never get an instant decision. For details look here: http://www.cifas.org.uk/default.asp?edit_id=565-85

I've already posted CIFAS links 100's of times - you guys gotta start reading so you know what it is, what it does, how they protect and neglect you, how they can be removed, how they are added and so on!

Cmmon guys, spend some time reading about the beloved cifas!

    Hope the above helps.....
