I got a standing order and dd for the minimum amount set up, so hopefully the faster payment will work on that. Is every ones payment date the same? I'm not sure what mine is to be honest, any easy way to find out?
Also my previous question, the easiest way to find out my balance?
    Cheers guys.
    I check my balance by phoning 0800 781 6314

My statement is printed around the 13th of every month and payment is due around the 5th

Payment date varies from customer to customer. DD is taken on the due date printed on your bill.

Balance can be checked by calling 0800 781 6314, if it prompts you for six digit passcode this is your date of birth (dd/mm/yy)

Faster Payments to Vanquis still take two working days to reach your credit card account, due to the way they run their operation, so if you are trying to get a payment in before the next statement is due, give it a couple of days notice.

Also, Vanquis can change your statement / due date on request, but this often results in a month being skipped so you could be charged extra interest - if you do change the statement date, continue making payments by SO in the meantime to avoid extra interest ;)

    Cool.

Slightly off topic cifpower, I see you have a next account, how often have you limit increases been? I just got one last week with £150 start off, I have seen in some posts that they randomly decrease and increase limits, is that the case?
Also if I want to buy something above my credit limit, will they take the outstanding balance off my registered debit card?
It's like bloody question time tonight.

My limit has been static for nearly a year at £1500 and peaked at £3600 before going up and down more often than a !!!!!'s knickers. If you want to buy something over your limit they will not let you as they will call you or send you a letter informing you of this.

Next do, however, like performing soft searches on Equifax
  • Thanks for that, so I will expect a bit roller-coaster the credit limit ride then!

Why do they do soft searches?? Every time I buy something? Is this allowed without my permission?

They did soft searches on me when I was near my limit presumably to see if they would increase it or not. They do change your limit wildly but I wouldn't be without my Next account. And yes, soft searches are allowed as in your T&C you give them the right to search your files as and when really.
  • Fair enough, if it's in the t&c's then no probs. I just tried ordering something over my limit, and got an email order confirmation, also my available credit has been cleared down to zero, so maybe they will cancel it when they do some manual checks. Bit odd, I was expecting a "sorry you don't have enough credit to buy this item" message

You aren't told when you order that you are over your limit. You will receive a phone call and/or a letter. This is what happened to me anyway.
  • You'd think companies would have all these things squared away by now, interactive websites with real time info and all that stuff, if jd williams can do it I'm pretty sure next could.

Maybe Next don't want to miss out on a sale so they soft search you to see if they can increase your limit.
