rose_pink: Thanks, sometimes it is hard to see things from the other person's perspective. I would love to think you were right about them trying to cheer me up, but they do it time after time, despite my warnings that I *will* explode if they don't stop it. and if it is their way of giving me a kick up the bum (by making me feel guilty) then it does the exact opposite.
AB: You are right, I recognise that jealousy is my problem, eliminating it would make me feel a whole lot better... but how? When you're surrounded by people who are constantly chipping away at you, all it does is reinforce those negative beliefs about myself. A person would have to be made of stone not to take at least some of it to heart. I'm asking this as a genuine question btw, I really don't know how to stop it0 -
went to the doctors today, hoping to get an appointment this week- first suitable appointment is next Tuesday evening. Emailed the student counsellor at uni, she too is unable to see me until next week or the week after.
Wow, that's really encouraged me to get help so I can get better.0 -
^The fact that you made an appointment in the first place is admirable, imo. Don't lose heart0

you will have to change your view of the world. I can honestly say I dont do jealousy because I know that if I truly wanted something I would get it myself so it is no use worrying about what other people are up to.
2) What does it matter if others are more successful than you? In fact break that thought down. How specifically are they more successful than you. Is there absolutely nothing you could do better than them? That would be unlikely and even if it were true does it matter? I have a friend who can hardly read buit do I tease hiim? No because he is a good plasterer and will take the mick out of my DIY skills.
3) as I alluded to above someone teasing you is invariably turning attention away from one of their weaknesses. or as rose pink says trying to cheer you up if teasing is light hearted.
4) Instead of drawing value from what other people think just be yourself and have the attitude that if someone else doesnt like it or teases it so what? inside your mind you have all the resources to be you but you dont have the resources to be someone else so when you try to please others your ego c finds it hard to maintain its position so is easily attacked which leads to anger and envy and frustration and eventually into withdrawl and feeling like a failure. The stupid thing is that when you stop trying to be what others want you to be many people actually respect and like you more.
Hope this helps if not feel free to PM me
Edit forgot to say. focus on just being a good person and nice to all others. That way people will like you and want to help youWho I am is not important. What I do is.0 -
Well done LC atleast you have decided to make yourself better
AB: It really annoys me the fact that people are wasting the NHS's time and money. How would you feel if you had depression and you couldn't see your doctor for atleast 2 weeks because of some time waster faking it??? You'd be pretty annoyed too. Look at LC not being able to see her doctor for 8 days thats disgusting and you have the likes of people faking it. The NHS is already on it's knees without people wasting resorces.
Rose-pink I tried to eat a yoghurt before but only managed 2 mouthfulls it tasted horrid. How are you hun?

I know what you are saying but the reason the NHS is on its knees is not due to a few people trying to fake illness. it is much deeper than that.
I could say how do you feel about all the millions spent on AD's when the latest survey puts their effectiveness about the same as the placebo?
The reason you cant get an appt when you need one is more to do with the expectation people have with the health service. Last time I was in the docs there were loads of people with coughs and colds (mainly men and children) who probably needed nothing more than a couple of days in bed but do I let them get me mad? not really because I cant do anything about it. its much better to get mad at things you can sort out.

thanks CompletelyLost and upsetone. The doctors had an appointment available on Wednesday morning but I can't take more time off work this week since I've not gone in today. Might try and phone one morning to get a last minute appointment, but these go really quickly so I won't get my hopes up. I've not been to the doctors for about 3 years so I'm sure I can wait another week.
edit: oh and well done for trying to eat upsetone :T maybe try and eat something else later? even half a slice of toast would be good0 -

Just typed a long post and lost it! Hope I can remember it all!
Well done Upsetrightnow, for eating some yoghurt. You did really well. As LaCara said, try to eat something else a bit later. How about trying to eat when you would normally have had your dinner, or if you didn't have regular meal times before, why not try to have something before 8pm?
Why do you think it is that you are finding it hard to eat?
I'm ok thanks, really struggled to go out earlier, but have had a nice sleep this afternoon. I find it so hard to go out, but I had to go to th bank, and the sun was shining so it was nice. I hate shops especially. I'm glad to be home, but I'm a bit stressed because the place is so messy. We live in a bedsit and it's hard to keep it tidy! I wasn't too good last week, so found it hard to keep on top of the mess! DH has said he will clear up on Thurs, and I will keep plugging away at it like normal. I've joined th flylady thread so that's really helped me keep up with th housework!
Anyway, I'm not too bad, thanks for asking.

My personal answer to this is that its the people who fake illnesses such as depression who cause the government to crack down on benefits in order to weed out the benefit cheats. This is why they have stopped my Incapacity Benefit because they are having a purge (the Citizens Advice Bureau told me this - Im not just assuming). So the people that fake and cheat cause genuine people to lose their benefits. I suffer badly from depression and can't work and am now having to fight to get the benefit back.
If there were no benefit cheats then life would be a lot easier for people who are genuinely ill or disabled. So whilst I couldn't care less when other people do these sort of things with their lives, I do when it has a knock on effect on me!0
