With all due respect, neither have you met XXJoXX. I don't think her post was meant out of malice. Both her and me and quite a few other people found his comments upsetting. However, in order to stop this argument lets remember this advice in the first post:
If this support thread on MSE is to continue it must be remembered that not all posters on this thread will always be able to express their feelings in a nice, sociable way.

If you find the posts of any particular member difficult to deal with then the ignore facility is available. Just as one person may not be in a place where they can post 'nicely', another may not be in a place where they are able to read said posts.

I really don't want this argument about AB to continue. I think we are all going to have to disagree on it - some of us enjoy his posts and some of us don't. Let's leave it there and talk about depression and how we can support each other, which is after all why we are here!

Hope everyone is well and going to have a good weekend.

Yes we will have to agree to disagree. two camps seem to have formed as you say. I cant see why anyone found his remarks upsetting. Im sure if you read them in a book you wouldnt be upset and even if you did you would put the book down. Ive been down in the past and if I didnt like something or someone I just ignored it. Im with you on the have a good weekend front:beer:

Im not in either camp really. I don't mind having a discussion with AB but I don't agree with everything he says and don't think he is that knowledgeable about depression which limits what advice he can give. I don't mind him posting on here at all and haven't been upset by anything he has said. However,as you say, we can agree to disagree with people and use the ignore button where appropriate. There is no need for arguments or upsets. It can be refreshing to get a different point of view.

I hope everyone is ok and that no one feels they have to leave here. Sssssss, I hope we see you back here again. It is very annoying and upsetting when posts are deleted but I hope you come back.

Hi everyone, hope you are all having a nice weekend. We went to see mum and dad and some of my friends in my home town. It was really good. And then we came back and had an Indian takeaway which was yummy! Really enjoyed it!
Am going to relax now, my shoulder is really stiff and sore and I'm worn out. It's a happy worn out tho.

    Hugs to all xx

    Heya everyone.

Been feeling very nauseous lately, which is really annoying me. Not sure if it's just part of the glandular fever.Been feeling very fragile and "moody" too. The slightest thing is setting me off in tears. =/

    Hope everyone is doing okay.

hi Anni, sorry to hear you are feeling so rough. Try to take it easy and be patient with yourself. It will take a while to recover from glandular fever, and feeling ill for so long is bound to affect your mood. Try to enjoy having a good excuse to have a rest!

Hi Shaz how are you? What you been up to today? I had a nice day seeing my family and some of my old friends

  • Hi all, just wanted to come here to rant. I went to the pharmacy today to get some vitamins, checked with the pharmacy assistant if they could be taken with my medication. He went off to ask the pharmacist who wasn't that far away. The sales assistant came back and asked what the medication was for and I said mental illness. He returned to the pharmacist and they were both smiling/laughing. Now perhaps I'm just being paranoid but I felt very uncomfortable. If I had been feeling strong enough I would have asked them what was so funny but I'm weak :( It's been a crappy week both at home and at work, I really didn't need to be made to feel worse about myself.

    Hi
    How r u?
Sorry to hear you had a hard time at the pharmacy, (((hug)))
Well I dont think it was very professional of them. Im sure it wasnt you tho hun, I see no reason why they would need to laugh about meds, if anything it was a serious point you raised. And assistants should probably know enough about certain medications if working in pharmacys. But maybe thats just me.
Sorry to hear you have had a bad week both at home and at work, would you like to talk about it?

    huggles
