I'm in the process of transferring two ISAs to my Natwest one (which I opened at the beginning of May). I sent my transfer forms off around the 26th May.

My Intellient Finance ISA has gone through (as of Friday) so that has taken about 3 weeks but the Barclays one is still showing on my online banking. I'll give it another week and then I think I will chase Natwest to ask them if they have had a response from Barclays. Barclays seem to be dragging their heels a bit.
  • HSBC is dragging their heels a lot, I've applied for transfer of my ISA to Natwest on the 20th of May, still nothing - money is still showing in my HSBC account. I'll give them another week and then call or visit, I seem to remember they said in Natwest that it takes about 28 days. Well, mine are (almost if they count working days) out. But what I wanted to say is big thank you for this thread because I just noticed Natwest's drop in interest rates, went to check when my Natwest ISA was opened and, in the letter, it says 12th of May : ) Hopefully lucky escape and I'll be on the previous higher rate but wouldn't know it without you guys posting.

My ISA funds left Nationwide on 22nd June, and still no sign of them in Natwest, which is so disconcerting... I don't want my money getting lost! I started this whole process off on 6th April, and it's going to have taken 3 months to sort it... thats a whole quarter's worth of interest!
  • I thought I would give everyone an update of how my transfer went so that people are aware of how long it takes
Transfer form taken to branch 20th May
Money left Barclays ISA 23rd June
Appeared in Natwest ISA 1st July

Lot longer than I thought it would take, trying not to think of interest lost but interest gained by being in a higher paying ISA now!

Good luck to everyone else waiting on transfers

  • I have banked with Natwest since I started work thats 35 years and my ISA transfer 'experience' has got to a level of Frustration.

    I had a Cash ISA

    I put this years allowance into a new E-ISA.(so 2 ISA's)

Transferred from a Nationwide ISA to E-ISA wrote covering letter and in block capitals on the form that transfer was to E-ISA as I understood I got a better rate.

Rang and complained as it was taking too long.

Logged on and they had put transfer into cash ISA

Rang and complained very nice young lady told me that Cash-ISA was in fact the better rate due to the date of opening. She recommended I transferred all ISA funds to Cash-ISA closed E-ISA and then reopened one when Cash-ISA bonus rate drops.

She filled in the forms and posted them to me. I made a special trip to local branch to hand them over.

Logged on to Internet to find........ they had tranferred all funds to E-ISA and Closed my Cash-ISA!!

Am currently fuming and awaiting the outcome of my latest complaint.

    Update:

HSBC closed my ISA with them on 24th June, the money finally turned up in the NatWest ISA on 3rd July (although this morning it still isn't reflected in my "available" balance, but I should still be getting interest on it hopefully).

It was quite a frustratingly slow process overall since I originally applied for this ISA in April and it has taken until now to get all my money in it. Not sure why it takes so long but I guess there isn't much we can do but sit and be patient.

What number did you use to contact them?

Sorry, must have missed this post earlier, so this answer will be too little too late I'm afraid :o

Probably useless to you anyway as I can't remember the number I phoned, although I expect I used the standard 0845 number as I'll have called from work and don't have to pay for it ;)

HSBC is dragging their heels a lot, I've applied for transfer of my ISA to Natwest on the 20th of May, still nothing - money is still showing in my HSBC account.

I applied for my HSBC ISA to be transferred around then, thought it was all HSBC causing the hold up but NatWest did own up to me that they didn't send the forms (or whatever) to HSBC until 1st June. After this HSBC didn't close my ISA until 24th, and then the worst part came where my money was nowhere at all until 3rd July!
