My brother had a contract with Vodafone 4 years, he was not aware the cost of the internet and in 2 months, his phone bill comes to 2 grand! Also Vodafone never contact him regarding the huge amount of data he used. Is anyone familiar with the fair usedata usage limit 4 years ago?
Thank you everyone.
Thank you everyone.

There isn't really enough information in your post to come to much of a conclusion. Does your brother not get his bills monthly, in which case why didn't he notice the steep data charges then? You say 'he was not aware the cost of the internet'; why not?0

Thanks for replying Halloway,
When his first monthly bill came, he saw the total and he was in deep shock. And he's already used a lot of data in the 2nd month when the first bill came. He was just turned 18 and didn't read all those small prints. I have researched a few similar cases but I still could not find a definite solution to this.0 -
Has he changed his phone ? Maybe stuck his sim in a unlocked iPhone and just started to use it on the net ? And perhaps dosen't have a data bundle on his acc. . .
Bottom line, if he's used the data he's liable to pay for it, they may reduce it if he call them but they don't have to, sorry. . .0 -
I think you may find that 'Fair Usage' applies to them not you...a fast buck is a fast buck...0

It was a 4 years ago contract, and i don't think he has a data bundle. I was just curious why Vodafone has not intention to contact when a large amount of data has been used. Now they are demanding payment with £1000 extra interest.0 -

Legally there isn't much he can do. He could try appealing to Vodafone's better nature but I suspect they don't have one. They might reduce the amount but that would be a matter of goodwill on their part.
The important thing to do is to make sure that Vodafone know that there is a problem and that your brother cannot pay the full amount immediately.0 -

Thanks halloway,
Since the bills was 4 years ago, he was thinking that wait for a year then the court has not legal right to demand it back. Would that be a good thing to do?0 -
A networks has several hundreds for thousands of people live on the system at any one time and maybe a few hundreds of employee's with access to the data. Most of those are answering question from people who call in. There are very few people who watch the network usage and even fewer who would notice that it's gone up.
Most of those are looking at new acc's.
It's the responsibility of the user to monitor their usage, the networks have never done it for you (and couldn't).
If he knows he didn't have a date bundle why did he start using his phone on the net ??
EDIT: The bill was 4 years ago ! It won't get to court, it'll go to a collections agency (who'll ad their fee) and he'll get the bailiffs round unless he call Voda and works something out with them.0 -
