  • Since it is only parts of Belfast that are not getting any mail for far too many days now, can RM not shift workers from areas that have gotten/are getting mail to clear up some of the backlog in the areas of Belfast that are not getting anything??

Why oh Why have these people not been sacked? It is an unofficial strike, they have no legal grounds to be on strike??

Surely there are enough immigrant and unemployed people to fill the gap if they were sacked?

Amazing they have kept their jobs this far!

I guess the problem would be that there are enough of them, that no matter they were in an illegal strike, the union would stand up behind them. Isn't that what unions are for?

I heard that many special deliveries had been sitting many days now. Every last one of those will be claimed back for and I am confident that there will be plenty of additonal compensation go in (consequential loss and all that).

  • In the meantime, what do you do if you have really urgent material that needs to get out of Northern Ireland?? Or what about the girobank system??

you would need to use a courier such as tnt, citylink or similar... who are v expensive (and certainly in my experience of citylink are rather light-fingered). as for giros, i thought it was compulsory to have your benefits paid into a bank or post office account now, i guess there are still some people that get a giro cheque?
  • No girobank as in the giro transfer system. Where you can pay bills and the like. I know online banks such as smile and cahoot use the girobank system for paying in cash or cheques to your account.

Agreed, use a courier..... but unless you have a special deal with them, better to go through a middle man such as pharos international or the likes, much cheaper.
