I found out Friday evening why I can't do Faster Payments any more. I have done too many(!) so the fraud/security system barred any more from my account. It took 4 days for BofS to find this out, even though I was saying from Tuesday that I thought this might have happened. No-one can tell me when the bar will come off! The really scary thing is that no-one contacted me when this bar was activated to see if it was a fraud or not - so what sort of fraud measure is that?

Am in the same boat. Halifax are a joke. The reason I've had to do so many faster payments is because I've had to dice them into such small chunks to allow them to go through! Now I can't send any at all and even the normal BACS payments seem to be delayed for an extra day before they are sent. Can anyone recommend a decent bank?!

I have sent FP of £500 plus to HSBC and Barclaycard on numerous occasions and never had a problem yet.

Sent £450 from HSBC to Halifax each month for the last 8 months. Works perfectly well.

Like Tommo I have had numerous problems with Halifax. Never any issue paying in by FP, from any other of my accounts but if I try to do more than 1 or 2 FP's out of Halifax (especially for £1000+), I usually get the 'sorry cant send by FP this time' message.

I also had my account frozen until I went through a security phone call, as did my OH (it's a joint account).

We move money regularly for various reasons and Halifax is without doubt the most 'hit or miss' bank out of all that we are with. I couldn't send 2 payments for the same amount today, I had to make sure they were for different amounts. It's a joke really.

So, we're also thinking about leaving and moving our main account elsewhere.

HSBC, Barclays and RBS group pretty much have the whole thing down (RBSG in particular put pretty much everyone else to shame, having opened the whole service to all customers as soon as it went live). It's Lloyds and the non-big 4 banks that are the issue now ;)

I completely agree with the RBS comment. I have held an RBS current account for over 20 years and have always had great service. It's just a shame that their accounts have such poor rates. That's the only reason we never used ths account as our main one.

I use my RBS account as a mule as I know how efficient their money moving service is.

In terms of Immediate Faster Payments, yes. But not when you look at Standing Orders, where the picture is very different (except RBS, who are on top of those as well)
