  • Yesterday i tried to pay off my credit card bill using three Halifax accounts, one payment for 215.00 went through as a faster payment and has shown up this morning as having been received the day i made the payment.

Two other payments from Haliax for 447.00 and 2381.00 have gone unpaid. First time i have had a problem with Faster payment service. But I dont usually pay this bill from these accounts.

To be fair it did say at the time of the transaction that two payments would go through on 21, so I suppose i will be waiting up to three days for it to show up which is a bit annoying.

I chose to pay the bill early so there is plenty of time for it to arrive.

On another subject, when using the online Halifax service two weeks ago, a message came up to ask/tell me that they need to do a security check and they would ring me at home if that was okay. I was away from my numbers they had so I ticked the box to say to do it at a later time. There was a message along the lines that online services would be suspended until they could contact me by phone. They never contacted me and they never suspended the online service.

I have just spent about 30 minutes trying numerous times to send faster payments from halifax to First Direct.

All I get are messages saying :

You have selected today's date. On this occasion we're unable to send this as an Immediate Faster Payment.

Your payment will be sent on 10/08/2009 using our bill payment service. Please allow up to 3 working days for your payment to be received.

I am getting this message for any amount from £10 to £100. What a waste of time, I dont want a service that sometimes works, I want a service that works all of the time and with clear parameters.

I am fedup with the way that faster payments is being manipulated by the banks, I am sure they are just using excuses to force us to use slower methods that are more profiatble to them.

    I feel your pain.

I have now given up waiting and moving my business to banks that have full FPS implemented.

    Cheers, Des.

    Here we go again:

I tried to move out £6600 in £1K chunks by FP from three BoS current accounts. Five payments went through. Then all my accounts were barred from making FPs.

I cannot even send £1 via FP now. Customer services did not know or want to hear about their anti-fraud measures although I told her the same thing had happened to me last year. She kept on telling me that FP are not guaranteed and that there might be a problem with the receiving bank or the whole FP system. Funny that - it's working fine when sending money from other banks.

This is exactly what happened to me last year when trying to move out seveal thousand and what Tommo781 described in #67 and
    #72.

Dagobert, that happens to me every month without fail. If I wait a day it clears again usually. Pain that it happens all at mind, but at least it rights itself.

I am on day two now and it has not righted itself.

I know that FP are frequently rejected, which is why I always try to move money out before I top the account up again.

I tried moving £2,500 yesterday from Halifax (in one go), it declined, so I tried £2,499 instead and it went by FP.

i've just done what i thought was a FP with A&L to halifax, just logged back on and showing as bill payment:mad: doesn't even warn you it isn't going via FP.

rang up CS and they said FP not always guaranteed have to send by chaps to always be so ( at a charge )!!!

money will now spend 3-4 days flying about, really frustrating!
