  • received this in an internal memo (I work for HBOS) on Wednesday:

hopefully this helps clear things up.

Thanks for that information, although Halifax would only let me send £500 yesterday (19th february)

One way I have found to get around it .... now OH and myself have 5 Halifax Current Accounts ;-)

Transfer max FP amount ... in my case £500, into each account and then send Faster Payment from each ... total £2500, or under new rules £5000 if they adhere to the £1000.

I now feel completely justified having 5 current accounts :j

This did not work for me two weeks ago. I sent £500 from one of my accounts and all further attempts, even with lower amounts, failed from any of my 3 accounts.

  • I must be lucky and catch the HBOS computer in a good mood then ;-) It has worked on several occasions I have tried it, except when the computer is having a hissy fit and not sending any FP's no matter how small !!!

I tried to transfer a payment today, and what I found out today is that, faster payment only available for the first 3 transfer whether successful or not, and provided within the limit (£1k?). The first 3 transfers were subsequently cancel by myself, when I try to transfer the 4th time for real, faster payment no longer show up although I wanted to transfer £500 only. I also tried by relogin and yet it is still the same.

    Can anyone confirm this?

mate, don't want to sound funny here, but I don't think you should be putting internal memos on here. They're internal for a reason.

Just to add to the confusion, I've got 3 reward current accounts that I haven't used at all for at least a fortnight. Today I attempted to send a £500 by faster payment from one account, and it refused (right down to £100). However, I was able to send two (didn't try a third) £500 faster payments from another of my accounts. Both accounts are essentially identical, so it really seems like a lottery; at least with several accounts I have more chances to win! :D

I have just sent £1000. (in one go), by FP from Halifax to Coventry B S, and it appears to have worked, as it brought up the page saying the recipient has accepted the FP, plus the e-mail saying it "has arrived at the recipient's bank who will apply the funds to the account within 2 hours."

Although with the last Reward account, (No 3 set up yesterday), it just did not seem to want to know, but at least they do appear to have upped the limit to £1000. although I have not tried a higher amount.

Things are still very much hit or miss at the moment. Wanted to transfer £1000 so split it into 2 amounts to try. £500 transfer refused but £200 sent. Next £200 refused so logged out and logged in again, then got another £200 sent as FP. Tried another lot of £200, also refused, tried 3 other current accounts, also refused. Logged out and in again, no difference.

You really would think this would be sorted out by now. My frustration is rising. RBS have rubbish accounts but at least their system works.
