Bank of Scotland / Halifax - Faster Payments

Options
I am trying to transfer money from my BoS current accounts to-day via Faster Payments. I have made one £500 FP payment.

Other attempts to various destinations capable of FP are refused and would be sent by BACS.

Customer Services told me that the current FP threshold is £500 per payment. I am getting the impression it is £500 per day.

Does anyone know?

In my experience it (Halifax) is totally inconsistent.

On occasions I have been able to make multiple £500 payments, one £500 payment and, for days on end, no faster payments of any denomination.

Oh dear! I must have got lucky last month then because I managed to send 4 x £500 FPs one after the other from Halifax to A&L...and was looking forward to doing the same again next week!

Their system is a complete mess

The limits seem to change everyday and the guy on the phone said there is a limit to the total number of faster payments the bank can send in a day from online and telephone banking can do fps anytime - not sure how accurate that is as i'll probably get a different story if i phone them again

The £500 threshold has been confirmed to me by 2 advisors.

They weren't able to send an FP by phone either. I was advised that FP are not guaranteed to work all the time.

That's the best explanation I have heard. I am a novice when it comes to money, I hasten to add.

Much like your average executive banker! :rotfl:

The halifax systems are very inconsistent.

If its a Faster Payments enabled sort code, proceed to send - you'll get a confirmation page on that page it will tell you if it will take a few hours or 3-4 days.

If it says 3-4 days, cancel it at that point, and start again.
It will generally change to a Faster Payment when you re-submit it.

A bit longwinded, but generally works

I had a stage where for 2 weeks I couldn't send faster payments. I left it a week and now all seems to be working again!

Another day, another try: I attempted to make a FP this morning. FP are not available to me at all, not even £100!

Purely by way of information, I can currently send £500 as a faster payment.

Bang goes my national online limit theory!
