Well, things are moving along... Had a call today from Compliance team at Orange. They wanted to verify my mobile number, which I did for them, and told me, they are looking into my complain with Ofcom.... mmmh

Not sure what to make of it! Perhaps its time to jump ship!
  • I called CS yesterday and managed to get a £45 credit on one of the phones, and 200 extra minutes on the other (we have a small business account with them).

I explained that we were unable to use the service and therefore we would like to cancel our contracts. I explained that whilst the service was an additional service, it was integral to the main service, and therefore Ofcom regulations meant that we had a right to cancel.

It definitely pays to be on the side of the orange representative. They have been completely snowed under and it's not their fault. I suggested that she could give us some extra inclusive minutes to make sure that we didn't go over our usual quota. I explained we didn't want to abuse the system, but we just wanted what was fair.

She asked what I wanted, and I said 400 mins (I'm only on talk 60!), and we agreed on a compromise of £45 for the talk 60, and 200 mins for the other phone (talk 120).

I'm not sure if this will help others. It may be because we were a business account. But I am definitely sure you will get further by being sympathetic to the orange cs, because they are the ones who are really suffering!

    Good luck!
  • Ha ha just noticed my Sons is showing 100 mins & 11 seconds remaining, how does this work when he only gets 100 mins a month.

    Could it be rollover minutes?
  • I understand why everybody is not happy with this situation, its incovenient to say the least, and I presume some people chose Orange because of the offer of this service - but unless things have changed, you don't even get it at Vodafone. Dunno about other networks. It might work well on 3 but is their system as busy?

I am on Orange PAYG, and that service is often not working too, so I think some of you could be a bit paranoid about it being a deliberate ploy to make you go over your monthly allowance. Usually, if its not working on PAYG, its back up and running again an hour or so later.

I might have missed it, but how long has it been going on? I never ever ever had it happen to me in 6 years of Orange contract usage, only been on PAYG for the last 14 months - have they reached the point of capacity and needing a new system? Someone has been told they are upgrading their computer systems, could this be the reason why its not working very well?

With Virgin contract the first thing you get when you ring their number (789) is your current balance of minutes AND texts!
