I always buy thos esilver cleaner solutions from H Samuels/ARGOS, but someone recently suggested that I use toothpaste for the same results??
(Might be a better idea as I one left some jewellery in the solution and forgot about it to come back to it 2 days later and it'd all gone brown!! Plus it smells like rotten eggs anyway!!)0 -
I tried toothpaste but found on jewellery with stones and intricate bits it was difficult to rinse off so it always had white marks round - never seem to get that with the soda crystals and foil methodworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Haven't tried it on costume jewellery though so not sure whether it would damage things that aren't gold, white gold or silver.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0

Dont bother with cleaning products for silver, wear it for a few hours. I always find this de-tarnishes my silver jewellery. Just to lazy to clean it any other way.0

I use a babies toothbrush and toothpaste and rinse under the tap. Never had a problem doing this, comes up a treat:D0

Yes. Take a non-metallic container (eg tuppaware tub). Place a small sheet of foil in the bottom of the tub. Add soda crystals (tablespoon should do if it's a smaller tub), then add warm/hot water.
Hey newlywed, where do you actually buy those soda crystals, and what do you actually ask for?
Also do you use the same foil? ie.silver foil for silver,
gold foil for gold?
You'll have to forgive me if this is a stupid question but the OH does all the shopping (triad it once
never again!!!!)0 -
Soda crystals are in the supermarket (although I have bought them in an old fashioned "hardware" shop too) - in the supermarket they are usually with the laundry section (eg washing powders) although usually tucked away on a top or bottom shelf in a plastic type bag rather than a box
As for foil - gold???naah - usual kitchen foil like you use to put over the roast in the oven
The tarnish goes onto the foil (rather than the colour of the foil going onto your jewellery)working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
I'm always a bit scared of soad crystals - don't know why, but I think this trick works with bicarb and silver paper too. (I expect a scientist will tell us why now). I just wear mine too, but then forget to wash my neck. Ooops.0
