Hmm these look like a good alternative to the Orchid dialler !

Good find on the link as the old Orchid boxes are hard to find. However, it is time of day that makes the Orchid box. I have mine routing mobile calls according to time of day and would miss that feature, I also route before 7pm on my 'minimal' tariff when Onetel charges.0 -
I find the translate feature of a V4 invaluable - I have set up one for a very elderly relative so that she only has to dial 66, 77 or 88 to get hold of her most-called 3 relatives (one of whom is in Spain).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I had an Orchid dialer years ago. Moved house. Builder just left and unpackd the old unit. Plugged it in and thought I'd have to program it.
Anyway call this evening and I heard "Zero pence per minute" on the unit, so it must have remembered a CPS prefix!
I programmed it by punching numbers in I think I read the book and wrote down the numbers to dial. I've lost the booklet and the numbers I wrote down.
I found the spreadsheet that seems to auto generate the codes. I've not got a modem any more but could I just type the numbers in using a touch tone phone, using the codes auto generated by the spreadsheet?Seth.0 -

You don't know the unit's current program so it will be best to first clear the Carrier Codes and Routing Codes completely and then start again.
Don't forget to set the day/date/time too (and to change it at the end of the month when we change to GMT again).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Yes, you can - but there's no easy way of checking that you've done it right. I would recommend you to get a cheap USB-based fax/modem such as http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/56Kbs-USB-2-0-V-92-90-Dial-Up-Voice-Fax-DATA-Modem-Win7-/370513921822?pt=UK_Computing_Networking_SM&hash=item564459c71e which will provide a more reliable way of transferring the codes from the spreadsheet to the dialler.
Better still if you also invest in one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Great-Incoming-Call-FSK-DTMF-Caller-ID-Box-Cable-Phone-Number-LCD-Display-/330787774002?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D2573438395790168299%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D3%26sd%3D180730497859%26
so that you can see what the dialler is actually dialling out in response to what you're dialling. [Be aware, though, that it might take a LONG time to arrive from Hong Kong!]
In case the links don't wrap properly, the two Ebay references are 370513921822 and 330787774002Cheers,

Best advice to get a cheap modem. I bought a cheap Zoom usb modem and Heinz's spreadsheet works fine with virtual com ports. One thing I would get is a modem with a built in speaker so you have confidence the tones are going out. I got into my Zoom modem and added a small monitor speaker and amp.
Yes, clocks are changing soon and if you do not update the router clock you could pay a lot for those 'after 7' calls.0 -

Agreed. I routinely update my clock once a month anyway, on the basis that a bit of drift could otherwise cause calls made close to 7pm (or 7am too, but I don't make many of those) to be incorrectly routed.Cheers,

Just spotted an Orchid V4 Dialler for sale on ebay.
