Just to add to the above. How do I add the two entries into Kevin's spreadsheet (the file name says v1_9 though the header on the Main sheet says v1.8.5)?
Find a couple of empty rows in the Routing Code Table for your two numbers and add the following entries (example below is for a phone number 01256123456 in empty row 29 of the routing code table:-
Call type 01256123456
Desc my number #1
Handling A
Day 0
Night 0
Weekend 0
The Programming Code column will fill itself in automatically and you will get *###01256123456#3000#29#
Just repeat filling in another row for your second number putting that number in the Call Type Column. The "Desc" column is free format so you can put any comment you like in there, even the name of the person who's number it is if you like!Retired so trying to save even more!0 -

Kevin, I tried a PM but it appears you don't accept them.
Please will you update your spreadsheet by changing:
(1). Cell B8 (Carrier Code 4) to 1280#08001183733
(2). Cell J19 (Routing Code 15 - for 0845 calls) to 3
(3). Cell K19 (Routing Code 15 - for 0845 calls) to 3
Many thanks.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Could someone please advise if there are any more detailed instructions for using Kevin's spreadsheet, other than the 'documentation' section? I've never needed to reprogram my orchid dialler before (not since Orchid stopped supporting it anyway), but have just signed up to Plusnet's full 'phone/broadband package. This gives me free local/national calls, plus free 0845 and 0870 calls both daytime/and evenings and weekends, so all that I need to do (I think) is to set the Orchid to use 18185 for mobile calls. I would really appreciate some advice on editing the spreadsheet to do this - a pointer in the right direction would be great!0

As I use OpenOffice which won't run Kevin's spreadsheet I just went for it, wiped my dialer and programmed it manually from scratch using a telephone connected to it. It really isn't that difficult once you understand the basic concept of the programming commands and it took me less than 5 minutes to do it. I still use a spreadsheet to keep a record of what I programmed but only for reference. I left some of the original default routing codes in there but many of them are probably not needed anyway. If it's any help I can send you my spreadsheet and could probably knock up a quick "how to" to show the sequence of programming commands.Retired so trying to save even more!0 -
That's exactly the situation I was in myself when I went over to BT's Unlimited Anytime deal having paid my line rental up front for a year. All my dialer does now is route calls to mobiles via either 18185 or 1899 (one is slightly cheaper at weekends!).

Thanks for the very quick reply shilcor! I would be very grateful if you could give me a sight of your spreadsheet and the sequences. It sounds like I would need to program my orchid in exactly the same way as yours - I too would like to use 18185 and 1899 for mobile calling when appropriate. Could you also advise how to go about 'wiping' the orchid first?
Much appreciated!!

Hi Jim,
OK, give me a evening or so and I'll see what I can come up with. Here's my reference spreadsheet for you to have a look at.

Here's a separate question that maybe someone can answer - can I actually attach files to these threads or do I have to put them somewhere and then put a link to the file (as I have above with my spreadsheet).Retired so trying to save even more!0 -
You need to add www. to the start of that link shilcor.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
